Job Description
BAE Systems is experiencing significant growth within our NSS engineering team. We’re seeking a unique individual – a former engineering leader – to leverage their technical expertise and hiring acumen as a Temporary Hiring Coordinator. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to transition your leadership skills into a critical operational function, supporting our rapid expansion. With 30-50 engineering roles currently open and anticipated, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring we attract and select top talent. You'll be responsible for the front-end of the recruitment lifecycle, applying your deep understanding of engineering skills and experience to quickly identify promising candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Requisition Intake & Refinement: Partner with engineering leaders to refine job requisitions in Kenexa, ensuring they accurately reflect the required technical skills and experience. Offer insights on attracting the right candidates based on your past hiring experiences.
- Strategic Resume Review: Conduct in-depth resume reviews, going beyond keyword matching to assess a candidate's overall technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and potential fit within our engineering teams. You will be a key gatekeeper for quality.
- Candidate Assessment: Develop initial screening questions (in collaboration with hiring managers) to quickly assess candidate qualifications and technical understanding during brief phone screens.
- Interview Coordination: Manage the complex interview scheduling process, coordinating calendars between candidates and multiple interviewers (often including senior engineers).
- Hiring Manager Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, providing insights on candidate quality and market trends.
- Reporting & Tracking: Generate weekly reports on key hiring metrics (e.g., time to fill, applications received, candidates screened, interview completion rates) to provide visibility to engineering leadership.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize our hiring process based on your experiences as a former engineering leader.
- Kenexa Management: Become proficient in Kenexa, managing job postings, candidate profiles, and data integrity.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience: 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, with direct responsibility for hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of engineering principles, practices, and technologies relevant to our business (FPGA design, Embedded Linux, signal processing, etc.).
- Hiring Acumen: Demonstrated ability to assess technical talent and make sound hiring decisions.
- ATS Proficiency: Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) – Kenexa experience is a plus, but not required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with engineers at all levels.
- Proactive Attitude: A proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
- Discretion: Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with various interview techniques and behavioral interviewing.
- Familiarity with recruiting best practices.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
