About the Role

Join MiniMed for a summer internship where you’ll do meaningful work, gain hands-on experience, and make an impact on our mission to make every day a better day for people with diabetes. You’ll be part of a collaborative intern community, build your professional network, and gain exposure to opportunities that help you grow both personally and professionally.

Our summer internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid positions lasting 10-11 weeks. We offer competitive compensation, as well as educational and social programming throughout the summer.

Interns may support one or more areas based on business needs and candidate background. Examples of work in each area are listed below.

Mechanical/Industrial Engineering

  • Process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives

  • Capacity planning and workflow analysis

  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects

  • Production data analysis and reporting

  • Material evaluation and cost reduction opportunities

Automation Engineering

  • Equipment reliability and uptime improvement projects

  • Automation troubleshooting and controls optimization

  • Digitalization and automated data collection initiatives

  • Technical knowledge management and process monitoring systems

Process Engineering

  • Process performance, yield, and productivity improvements

  • Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

  • Process monitoring and optimization

  • Standard work and procedure development

Chemical Engineering

  • Material evaluation and characterization

  • Electrochemical testing and experimental design

  • Sensor performance data collection and analysis

Software/Systems Engineering

  • Software and system performance improvements

  • Process automation and tool development

  • Application support and enhancement projects

  • Data management, reporting, and analytics solutions

Location and Work Model

Engineering Internships are based in Juncos, Puerto Rico. All interns must reside in Puerto Rico for the duration of the internship.

Interns are expected to work on-site at the designated location three days per week, with the remaining days remote and participate in full time, 40 hours per week, as part of the summer 2027 cohort.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

To be considered for a Summer 2027 Internship, your resume must clearly demonstrate how you meet each of these basic requirements.

  • Working toward a bachelor's Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with an anticipated graduation date in Winter 2027, Spring 2028, Winter 2028, or Spring 2029.

  • Applicants for MiniMed’s Summer Internship Program must be currently authorized to work in the United States. MiniMed does not sponsor work authorization for internship positions. Individuals on temporary visa classifications, including E, F‑1 (CPT or OPT), H‑1, H‑2, L, B, J, or TN, as well as anyone who requires employment sponsorship now or in the future, are not eligible for MiniMed’s Summer Internship Program.

Nice to Have

  • A minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technologies or tools is preferred: Python, SQL, Power Query, Minitab, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++, C#, Java, Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent), Raspberry Pi, and DMAIC or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Prior work on projects in a team environment

  • Relevant academic project, internship, or lab experience

  • Technical writing skills

  • Experience with statistics, data analysis, or mechanical or electrical design
