Engineering Manager

About the Role

This is an Engineering Manager role leading one of the core product teams at a fast-growing govtech SaaS company modernizing software for local governments. You will be a hands-on technical leader and force multiplier, setting direction and growing a team that ships meaningful products to public-sector customers.

What You'll Do

• Lead, mentor, and support the career growth of a team of 3 to 7 software engineers.

• Partner with product and cross-functional teams to define and execute the technical roadmap for core products.

• Stay hands-on by spending roughly 20 to 30% of your time on coding, code reviews, and architectural design.

• Guide critical architectural decisions to keep systems scalable, performant, and maintainable.

• Champion high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation across the team.

• Travel approximately 10% of the time to visit customers.

What We're Looking For

• 7 to 15 years of experience overall, with 5 or more years spanning both individual contributor and engineering management roles.

• Proven track record building and shipping production systems while leading engineering teams.

• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Python, and Kotlin or Go; familiarity with Java and PostgreSQL is a plus.

• Experience with AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Background at early-stage startups, with a history of shipping customer-facing products.

• Steady tenure, averaging 2 to 3 years or more per position.

• Experience integrating AI development tooling (such as code assistants or AI-powered IDEs) into engineering workflows.

• Authorized to work in the United States or Canada without visa sponsorship.

• Able to work US time zones.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $165,000 to $205,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
