Engineering Manager

About the Role

Lead a core product engineering team at a SaaS company building software for local governments. This hands-on, product-minded role combines people leadership with technical direction and direct contributions to design and code.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor a team of 3 to 7 software engineers, supporting their career growth and development.

• Partner with product and other teams to define and deliver the technical roadmap for core products.

• Spend approximately 20% to 30% of your time coding, reviewing code, and contributing to architectural design.

• Guide architecture decisions to support scalable, performant, and maintainable systems.

• Promote strong practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and engineering ownership.

What We're Looking For

• 7 to 15 years of engineering experience, including direct people management of software engineers.

• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and Python, with experience in customer-facing products.

• Experience with AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD; familiarity with Java and PostgreSQL is relevant to the technology stack.

• Experience with Kotlin or Go is also relevant.

• Experience integrating AI tools such as Claude or Cursor into engineering workflows.

• Authorization to work in Canada or the United States without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $165,000 to $205,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Remote, with Canada as the primary location. The role is open to candidates located in Canada or the United States.
