What's In It For You

Package: Competitive salary + pre-IPO equity + very strong benefits

Setup: Remote-first across Ireland and the UK

Impact: Help scale a global software infrastructure platform used by engineering teams to manage and secure their software supply chains

Ownership: Lead multiple engineering teams, influence technical direction and help shape how the engineering organisation grows

Why This Role

This company builds software infrastructure that helps engineering teams manage, secure and distribute the software they build.

Their platform sits right in the middle of the software delivery process, handling everything from artifact management and package distribution to security scanning and policy enforcement. It's a large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS platform used as critical infrastructure by engineering teams.

They've recently raised their Series C and are investing in the next generation of their platform, with a focus on software supply chain security, artifact intelligence and improving how software is delivered.

They're looking for an Engineering Manager with a background in either Developer Tooling, Platform Engineering or Security who started their career as a software engineer before moving into leadership.

This isn't a role for someone who's moved so far into management that they've lost touch with engineering.

You won't be writing code every day, but you'll need to be comfortable discussing architecture, challenging technical decisions and working closely with senior and principal engineers.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll lead multiple engineering teams building and scaling a cloud-native SaaS platform.

There's a mix of people leadership, technical oversight and delivery, so you'll need to be comfortable moving between all three.

That includes:

  • Leading engineering teams delivering new product capabilities
  • Working closely with senior and principal engineers on architecture and technical decisions
  • Helping teams improve delivery, remove blockers and meet commitments
  • Coaching and developing engineers through regular 1:1s, mentoring and career planning
  • Working with Product to translate business priorities into engineering plans
  • Managing stakeholders and keeping everyone clear on progress, risks and challenges
  • Supporting hiring and helping the engineering organisation grow
  • Improving engineering processes and ways of working as the platform scales
  • Handling performance issues and difficult conversations when needed

The goal isn't to manage every technical decision yourself. It's to build teams that can make good decisions, deliver consistently and take ownership of their work.

What They're Looking For

  • Experience working in either Developer Tooling, Platform Engineering or Security products. This is essential.
  • A software engineering background, with hands-on experience building software before moving into management.
  • Experience managing multiple engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and cloud-native SaaS platforms
  • Experience building and delivering complex technical products
  • Comfortable discussing architecture, technical design and engineering trade-offs with senior engineers
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring and developing engineers
  • Experience with modern CI/CD practices and frequent production releases
  • Comfortable working across Product and Engineering to influence technical direction and priorities
  • Experience leading teams through growth and change
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with distributed teams

Bonus if you have:

Experience with parts of their stack, including:

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, EC2, CloudFront, Lambda, Terraform
  • Backend & Data: Python, Rust, Django, Postgres, ClickHouse
  • Streaming & Messaging: Kinesis, Flink, Amazon MQ
  • Frontend: React, Next.js

You don't need experience with every technology, but you should have enough technical depth to understand the architecture and contribute meaningfully to engineering discussions.

The Culture

This is a remote-first engineering organisation that values technical quality, transparency and giving teams ownership of their work.

They're looking for someone who can build trust with engineers, have difficult conversations when needed and create an environment where people are comfortable challenging decisions.

Good fit for someone who enjoys developing engineers, still likes getting into technical discussions and wants to help shape how an engineering organisation operates as it grows.

Location & Working Arrangements

You must be based in Ireland or the UK and have the right to work without sponsorship.

The company operates remotely, with occasional travel to Belfast for team meetings and planning sessions. You may also need to travel for company events and customer engagements.
