Description
JOB SUMMARY
Hansei's Sidekick platform powers healthcare revenue cycle operations, including utilization review, verification of benefits, billing, appeals, and client onboarding. It is built on Power Apps (Dataverse) and Microsoft Fabric / Power BI.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of 7 including Power Platform developers and data engineers, owning delivery, quality, and team growth in a HIPAA- and HITRUST-regulated environment. This is a hands-on, team-level leadership role at a 100% remote company: you will partner with senior technology leadership on strategy and own how your team executes.
JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership
• Lead, coach, and grow Power Platform developers and Fabric / Power BI data engineers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development plans.
• Hire and onboard engineers, setting clear role expectations and development standards.
• Build a team culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Delivery and Execution
• Own delivery of Sidekick modules from sprint planning to production release, including model-driven and canvas apps, Power Automate flows, Dataverse data models, and the data pipelines that feed reporting.
• Run the daily product and engineering stand-up; translate approved requirements into technical tasks with time, effort, and cost estimates.
• Balance production fixes, current sprint work, and upcoming releases; communicate status, risks, and dependencies clearly.
• Lead root cause analysis on production and performance issues, and keep processes and runbooks clearly documented.
• Apply Agile/Scrum practices and standardize processes across teams to improve speed and scale.
Power Platform and Data Oversight
• Set and enforce Power Platform standards: solution layering, managed solutions, environment strategy, ALM pipelines, and security roles.
• Review application and data designs for performance, maintainability, and Dataverse limits; decide when work belongs in Power Apps, Azure Functions, Fabric, or a custom connector.
• Ensure data flowing from Dataverse into Fabric and Power BI is reliable, well-modeled, and secure.
• Track platform costs (licensing, Fabric capacity, Azure spend), build cost models for new investments, and recommend efficiencies.
Quality, Security and Compliance
• Ensure deliverables meet HIPAA, HITRUST, and internal security standards, including PHI handling, access controls, monitoring, logging, and incident response.
• Participate in audits and remediation; work within Hansei's change management process and help improve it.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Product, PMO, IT, Client Delivery, and Operations on requirements, priorities, and timelines.
• Explain technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical business owners and remove barriers to team delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• 6+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years of hands-on Power Apps / Dynamics 365 (Dataverse) development, with production model-driven or canvas apps shipped.
• 2+ years directly managing engineers, including direct reports, hiring, and performance reviews.
• Hands-on data experience: strong SQL plus work with data pipelines/ETL, Power BI, or Microsoft Fabric / Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with Power Platform ALM (solutions, Azure DevOps or GitHub pipelines).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred
• Healthcare experience, ideally revenue cycle (eligibility/VOB, utilization review, claims, denials and appeals).
• Familiarity with HIPAA, HITRUST, and PHI handling.
• Microsoft certifications such as PL-400, PL-600, or DP-600.
• Experience with Copilot Studio or AI capabilities on Power Platform.
BENEFITS
• Competitive salary and performance-based bonus
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
• 401(k) with company match
