The successful candidate will bring an independent, evidence-based perspective, constructively challenging decisions, and serve as a trusted partner to engineering and business leaders.
Regional Quality Leadership and Execution

  • Translate global Engineering Quality priorities into a clear regional strategy with measurable objectives.

  • Drive quality governance across the region through clear decision criteria, escalation paths, and effective management reviews, ensuring consistent execution and follow-through.

  • Partner with engineering and program leaders to identify risks early, prevent defects and rework, and resolve quality concerns before they affect milestones or customers.

Engineering Quality & Process Effectiveness

  • Assess the maturity of the engineering process from requirements through release and convert gaps into focused improvement plans.

  • Apply a risk-based quality approach tailored to product complexity, safety classification, customer needs, and program risk.

  • Strengthen technical and release reviews through clear criteria, expert participation, risk-based challenge, and disciplined closure of findings.

  • Monitor quality indicators and ensure lessons learned, corrective actions, and read-across improvements are implemented and sustained.

Automotive Standards, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure processes and evidence meet customer regulatory, IATF 16949, functional safety (ISO26262), cybersecurity (ISO SAE 21434?), and Automotive SPICE requirements.

  • Enforce complete, traceable, audit-ready work products that support sound release decisions.

  • Lead or support assessments and drive timely, sustainable closure of findings.

Systems, Software, and Hardware Development Quality

  • Strengthen quality planning across systems, software, and hardware development, including interfaces, verification, validation, and change control.

  • Ensure end-to-end alignment and traceability from customer requirements and safety goals through implementation and verification.

  • Build engineering team capability through coaching, practical standards, lessons learned, and targeted training.

Program & Project Management Integration

  • Ensure program-level quality execution aligns with the global quality approach, including defined quality gates, risk reviews, readiness assessments, escalation, and issue of closure.

  • Partner with Engineering and Program Management to strengthen planning, milestone readiness, prioritization, change control, and issue management.

People Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Lead and develop the North America Engineering Quality team through clear priorities, coaching, training, feedback, and capability planning.

  • Engage early with engineering and business leaders to challenge risks and embed quality requirements, architecture, design, and execution.

  • Represent Engineering Quality in tollgate, leadership, and customer reviews, providing an independent readiness assessment and recommending a gate hold when required criteria are not met.

What you'll bring:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.

Experience: 10+ years in automotive or another safety-critical product development environment, with at least 3 years leading people or major cross-functional quality initiatives. Experience in a complex, multi-site engineering organization is strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of systems, software, and hardware development lifecycles; embedded automotive experience is preferred.

  • Experience managing platform and application dependencies, interfaces, integration points, shared components, and release alignment.

  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 26262, automotive cybersecurity, Automotive SPICE, requirements engineering, traceability, configuration management, risk management, and verification and validation.

  • Hands-on experience with APQP, FMEA, 8D, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and lessons learned.

  • Experience integrating quality into Agile or scaled Agile planning, development, delivery, metrics, and retrospectives.

  • Strong analytical judgment, leadership, coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills across functions, locations, and cultures.
