Position Overview Fathom Management is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with recent Hands-On Architecture to support a Department of Veterans Affairs project focused on enterprise architecture, financial systems, healthcare claims processing, enterprise integration, cloud modernization, and legacy system transformation. The successful candidate will bring approximately 15 years of overall IT/technology experience, including 3–5 years of hands-on Enterprise Architecture experience , with current technical skills in developing cloud architecture diagrams, legacy architecture diagrams, infrastructure specifications, integration models, and detailed enterprise architecture deliverables . This is not a purely governance, advisory, or executive-level architecture position . The successful candidate must remain technically hands-on and capable of personally developing architecture artifacts, evaluating technical alternatives, documenting infrastructure and integration designs, and working directly with engineers and technical teams. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in financial processing and healthcare claims environments , preferably within Federal Government environments, and should understand the architecture and integration requirements associated with X12, HL7, IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, iFAMS, and enterprise financial/healthcare systems . Current Technical Architecture Experience Candidates must demonstrate recent hands-on architecture development , including at least some of the following: AWS architecture Azure architecture Hybrid cloud architecture Legacy application architecture Legacy-to-cloud modernization Infrastructure architecture Network architecture Application architecture Data architecture API/integration architecture Security architecture Logical architecture diagrams Physical architecture diagrams Infrastructure specifications Architecture decision records Technical alternatives analysis Architecture standards/design patterns Architecture experience should reflect work performed within the candidate's recent career, not solely historical experience from earlier positions. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 15 years of relevant professional experience required. Candidates with 5 + years of relevant experience may substitute experience for education , where applicable. Enterprise Architecture Approximately 15 years of overall IT/technology experience preferred. 3–5 years of hands-on Enterprise Architecture experience preferred. Recent hands-on experience developing cloud architecture diagrams and specifications . Recent hands-on experience documenting legacy architecture and modernization/transition architectures . Experience personally developing logical and physical architecture diagrams . Experience developing infrastructure specifications covering compute, network, storage, security, integration, and cloud components. Experience conducting architecture assessments and documenting technical alternatives, risks, costs, dependencies, and implementation considerations. Experience working directly with engineers and technical teams to translate architecture into implementable solutions. Demonstrated experience with financial processing and healthcare claims processing . Experience with Federal Government financial or healthcare systems strongly preferred. Experience with X12 and HL7 in healthcare/financial transaction environments. Experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator strongly preferred. Experience with iFAMS or comparable Federal financial management systems strongly preferred.
