Job Summary Mazzetti is seeking entry-level Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Designers to join our Engineering team in Summer 2027. This s an opportunity to launch your career designing building systems that directly impact how people experience the built environment. Depending on your discipline, you’ll support the design of HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems for complex facilities, with a focus on healthcare, science and technology, and other high-performance buildings. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and designers, gaining hands-on experience with real projects while developing your technical expertise, understanding of project delivery, and ability to collaborate across disciplines. From performing engineering calculations and developing designs in Revit to participating in project meetings and visiting construction sites, you’ll have opportunities to learn how projects move from concept through construction—and how thoughtful engineering can create more sustainable, resilient buildings. Your Tasks Will Involve Design & Technical Development Support the design and documentation of mechanical HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems, depending on your discipline. Perform engineering calculations and analyses with guidance from experienced team members, such as: Mechanical: heating and cooling loads, ventilation requirements, and HVAC system sizing. Electrical: lighting and power calculations, voltage drop and short-circuit analysis. Plumbing: domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, and other plumbing system calculations and sizing. Develop construction drawings, diagrams, and other project documentation using Revit and related design tools. Learn and apply applicable building codes, engineering standards, and Mazzetti design practices. Contribute to energy-efficient, resilient, and lower-carbon building solutions. Collaboration & Project Experience Work closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and other Mazzetti disciplines. Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, structural engineers, and other project partners. Participate in project meetings and learn how client needs are translated into technical design solutions. Communicate questions, ideas, and design considerations clearly with project team members. Construction & Field Experience Support construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals and responding to project documentation. Participate in site visits to observe existing conditions, construction progress, and installation of designed systems. Assist with renovation projects by documenting and evaluating existing building systems. Professional Growth Learn from experienced engineers and designers through project work, mentorship, and technical training. Build your knowledge of building systems, codes, sustainability, and emerging technologies. Develop the technical, communication, and project-delivery skills needed to take on increasing responsibility over time. Pursue professional development opportunities, including progress toward Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification where applicable. Work Location: This position is available to candidates located near our offices in Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; or Sacramento, CA. The role follows a hybrid work arrangement that may include time in the office, at project sites, and working remotely from home. Travel Requirements: Occasional local travel to project sites may be required. Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, completed or expected by Summer 2027. 0–3 years of relevant experience in building systems design; internship, co-op, academic project, or similar experience is welcome. Exposure to healthcare, science and technology, or other complex building types is a plus, but not required. Technical Skills Basic knowledge of Revit through coursework, internships, employment, or project experience. Familiarity with other engineering/design software is a plus. Foundational understanding of engineering principles relevant to your discipline. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an interest in applying engineering concepts to real-world building design. Professional Skills & Interests Curiosity and eagerness to learn from experienced engineers, designers, and project teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an interest in working collaboratively across disciplines. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Compensation: The typical salary range for an entry-level Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Designer based in Denver, CO, Sacramento, CA, or San Francisco, CA is $65,000-$90,000 . We are committed to equitable pay and will evaluate final compensation based on relevant experience and skills in alignment with internal equity and market data.
