For more information on how we process your personal information, please review the Privacy policy located at https://privacy.paramount.com/recruitment-privacy-notice . --- As an Environment Surfacing Artist, you will be involved in many aspects of the visual development and look of the production, working in coordination with the Production team, Art Director, Environment Supervisor, and Visual Effects Supervisor to deliver a visually impressive result. Responsibilities Creates textures using photographic references, digital hand-painted techniques, existing texture assets, and procedural workflows. Paints stylized textures based on concept art while maintaining the visual style of the show using Substance 3D Paint and Photoshop . Creates procedural textures using Substance 3D Designer . Possesses the a bility to create, adapt, and iterate within a variety of artistic styles. Show s a clear understanding of UVs and texture layout . Demonstrates a strong understanding of physically based shading principles, including material properties such as albedo, reflection, refraction, roughness, and subsurface scattering. Authors and modifies materials using standard and procedural shading workflows within the main rendering engines. Keeps up with current artistic methodologies, technological trends, and tools that best support production and contribute to a stronger creative and technical environment. Collaborates with other team members, when necessary. Follows the Supervisor’s and Lead´s guidance. Requirements 3 - 5 years of experience in VFX or animation industries. 1+ years of experience in the animation industry is desirable. E xperience in Renderman and/or Arnold . Experience with Substance 3D package and/or Mari. S trong artistic and/or technical aptitude rel ated to 3D animation or VFX. Strong knowledge of UV creation and layout . Knowledge of lighting, modeling, and scene optimization. Experience managing large scenes, complex environments, and demanding sequences. Knowledge of Houdini, Solaris or Katana is desirable. USD and/or OSL knowledge is a plus. Knowledge of vegetation workflow s (instances and scatter s ) is a plus. Understanding of displacement workflows (maps and geometry output) is a plus. High English level desirable.
