Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Title - Environmental / Regulatory Economist Location: Silver Spring, MD / Remote Employment Type: Contract Client - NOAA Position Summary Support NOAA/NMFS with economic analysis for protected-species regulatory actions , including critical habitat designations and regulatory impact analyses. Conduct quantitative and qualitative economic analysis and prepare reports supporting formal rulemaking. Key Responsibilities Conduct economic impact, cost-benefit, and cost-effectiveness analyses. Assess economic impacts of critical habitat designations and regulatory alternatives. Collect, evaluate, and analyze economic and statistical data. Apply econometric, quantitative, and qualitative methods to complex economic issues. Prepare technical economic analyses and regulatory documentation. Analyze economic effects of protected marine species management actions. Coordinate with biologists and stakeholders on data, assumptions, and findings. Required Qualifications 3+ years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree typically expected. Strong knowledge of economic assessment and impact analysis . Experience with econometric, statistical, quantitative, and qualitative economic studies. Experience analyzing natural-resource or environmental regulatory impacts. Strong technical writing and analytical skills. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and obtain required credentials. Preferred Qualifications Experience with critical habitat economics, Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), or Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA) . Experience supporting ESA, MMPA, NEPA, or environmental rulemaking . Natural-resource or environmental economics experience This is a remote position.
