The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Join as an Environmental Planning Engineer to review real project deliverables and improve the underlying product. You will combine permitting research, environmental judgment, and careful review of AI-generated findings.
What you'll do
- Review environmental analyses, permit assessments, and critical-issues screens.
- Research regulatory and permitting questions across local, state, and federal sources.
- Identify unsupported or incomplete AI-generated conclusions.
- Update prompts, rules, and regulatory knowledge with product and engineering teams.
- Evaluate environmental, land-use, and permitting risks for infrastructure sites.
What we're looking for
- 2 to 5 years of environmental planning, permitting, or regulatory research experience.
- Hands-on energy or infrastructure project due diligence.
- Breadth across permit types, jurisdictions, and regulations.
- Ability to produce clear, accurately cited analysis and provide a writing sample.
- Discerning use of AI tools and careful quality review.
- Comfort working across subject-matter expertise and product improvement.
Bonus points
- Environmental consulting or energy developer experience.
- A degree in environmental science, planning, law, or a related analytical field.
- NEPA/CEQA, permit-matrix, critical-issues, or GIS experience.
- Willingness to attend the office five days per week during initial onboarding.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 120,000 to 200,000 per year.
