This is a focused, technically demanding position within a specialist commercial and industrial roofing business, where accuracy is not a preference, it is the foundation of every tender.

THE ROLE

Your primary function is quantity take-off: reading and interpreting commercial and industrial construction plans and tender documents, then producing clean, structured take-offs using Bluebeam Revu that the internal estimating team can review, edit, and build pricing on. Over time, this role grows — you will begin applying material rates and margins under supervision, progress toward full estimating responsibility, and take on supplier and subcontractor communications as your capability expands. This is not a static data-entry role; it is a genuine career development pathway for someone who is serious about estimating in the construction sector.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Read and interpret commercial and industrial construction plans and tender documents, producing accurate quantity take-offs aligned with Australian construction standards.
• Complete all take-offs in Bluebeam Revu, documenting measurements in a format the internal estimating team can review, edit, and price without ambiguity.
• Transfer take-off data into a structured internal Microsoft Excel spreadsheet linked to the Simply job management system, and clearly explain measurement decisions when queried.
• Manage multiple concurrent take-off projects, prioritising by tender deadline and communicating progress and plan interpretation queries to the internal team in a timely manner.
• Apply material rates and margins to take-offs under guidance from the estimating team as pricing capability is established, progressing toward end-to-end estimating responsibility.
• Send written quote requests to suppliers and subcontractors once pricing capability is in place, managing all correspondence professionally in English.
• Transition won jobs from the quoting stage into the Simply job management system, supporting the internal team with purchase orders and job setup.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for digital take-offs, or demonstrated proficiency in a comparable platform such as PlanSwift with a clear ability and genuine willingness to transition to Bluebeam.
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and take off from commercial or industrial construction plans — this is the core function of the role and non-negotiable.
• Knowledge of Australian construction standards; candidates with experience only in US, EMEA, or other non-Australian markets are not suitable for this position.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to navigate and populate structured spreadsheet templates linked to a job management system.
• Competent Microsoft Word skills for written communication and formal documentation.
• Strong written and spoken English for direct team communication via email and video call, including the ability to articulate measurement decisions confidently and clearly.
