Department Overview: Miggy’s Bakes is a custom bakery located in Middleton, Wisconsin, specializing in custom cakes, cookies, dessert bars, cookie cups, and other sweet treats. Our owner started the bakery in 2019 out of her college apartment while studying economics at UW-Madison! We serve both individual customers and larger events, including weddings, corporate events, celebrations, and wholesale partners. We are a growing, creative small business with a close knit team and a fast paced environment. Our goal is to create delicious products while providing an exceptional customer experience. We’re looking for enthusiastic team members who enjoy working with people, learning new skills, and being part of a fun and hardworking team. Anticipated Start Date 9/10/26 Anticipated Hours Per Week 10-15 Schedule: This is a flexible, part-time internship with an estimated 10 - 15 hours per week. As this is a new position, there is potential for the role and hours to grow over time based on the needs of the business, the intern’s interests, and performance. The position can include a combination of in store and remote work. We are happy to work around a student’s class schedule and allow remote time for tasks such as content planning, social media scheduling, research, and other marketing projects. Ideally, the intern will be in store at least once per week or every other week to capture content, work on projects with our team, and meet with management to plan upcoming marketing initiatives and events. Additional in store hours may be available around special events, promotions, and busy periods. Extra hours may also be available in other bakery positions for interns interested in picking up additional work. Salary/Wage Range: Hourly $16.00 to $16.00 Number Of Positions 1 Position Summary/Job Duties: Miggy’s Bakes is looking for a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Events & Marketing Intern to join our team. This is a hands on opportunity for a UW Madison student interested in marketing, social media, event planning, communications, or small business. The intern will work directly with the owner and management team to help plan and promote bakery events, create marketing content, build community partnerships, expand social media reach, and grow awareness of Miggy’s Bakes. Qualifications: Current UW - Madison student pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, business, event planning, public relations, or a related field is preferred, but not required Creative, enthusiastic, and excited to bring new ideas to a growing small business Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfortable creating content for social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities Comfortable working independently and taking initiative Reliable, punctual, and able to follow through on projects Comfortable collaborating with management and other team members Willing to be hands on with events, content creation, and day to day marketing tasks Experience with Canva, social media management, photography/video, email marketing, or website management is a plus Previous marketing, communications, event planning, or small business experience is a plus, but not required Must have reliable transportation to and from our Middleton bakery Access to a car is a plus for occasional off site events, content opportunities, or marketing errands Application Instructions: Email Shelby, owner, at [email protected] with your resume, availability, and why you want to work at Miggy's Bakes!
