Security Lead Volunteer

Overview:

The Security Lead Volunteer plays a key role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of nonprofit fundraising events. This individual will oversee the event’s security operations, coordinate volunteer security team members, and serve as the main point of contact for any safety-related concerns during the event.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-Event Planning:

• Collaborate with event organizers to assess potential security needs and risks.

• Develop a security plan tailored to the event venue and expected attendance.

• Attend planning meetings as needed.

• Team Coordination:

• Recruit, assign, and brief volunteer security team members.

• Conduct pre-event training or briefings for volunteers on responsibilities, emergency procedures, and event layout.

• Serve as the liaison between the security team, event staff, and (if needed) local law enforcement or venue security.

• On-Site Duties:

• Oversee all aspects of on-site event security.

• Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to ensure safety and crowd control.

• Manage lost-and-found or incident reports.

• Respond calmly and appropriately to any incidents or emergencies.

• Ensure compliance with venue rules, safety protocols, and applicable laws.

• Post-Event:

• Debrief with event staff and provide feedback on any incidents, successes, or areas for improvement.

• Submit a short report if necessary.

These qualities and skills will be helpful:

• Prior experience in security, safety coordination, law enforcement, or event management preferred.

• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

• Comfortable giving direction and enforcing rules diplomatically.

• Physically able to be on your feet for extended periods and move around event areas.

Training and Support Provided:

• Orientation and safety protocol overview provided by the organization.
