Examinations Officer

Reports to: Senior Manager of Progression and Standards
Role type: Full-time, employed
Start date: Immediate start

The Examinations Officer is responsible for managing Wolsey Hall Oxford's examinations function, ensuring students receive accurate, timely and high-quality support throughout the entire examination lifecycle. The role oversees examination administration, candidate entries, remote invigilation, results processing and post-results services, supporting both students who sit examinations through external centres and those for whom Wolsey Hall acts as the entering centre. As the school's primary point of contact for examinations, the postholder works closely with awarding bodies, examination centres, students, families and internal teams to ensure all examination processes are delivered efficiently, securely and in full compliance with regulatory requirements. The role includes maintaining strong relationships with examination providers, supporting students to identify suitable examination centres, managing examination records and communications, and ensuring the integrity of remotely invigilated assessments.

The Examinations Officer also plays a key role in coordinating results and post-results services, maintaining accurate student achievement records, and continuously improving examination systems and processes. Working within a fast-paced international school environment, the postholder provides expert guidance on examination matters while ensuring a positive and professional experience for students, families and colleagues.


Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of examinations administration and coordination.
  • Strong understanding of GCSE, International GCSE, AS Level and A Level qualifications.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience maintaining
    accurate records and databases.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex administrative processes.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database management systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply examination regulations and procedures.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting private candidates and distance learning students.
  • Experience with Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel qualifications.
  • Knowledge of JCQ regulations, access arrangements, and invigilation.
  • Experience analysing examination data.
  • Experience working with international examination centres and candidate arrangements.



Working Pattern and Leave

This role includes responsibility for supporting key operational activities during designated peak periods. As a result, annual leave cannot normally be taken during specified times of the year, including key enrolment, examination, results, inspection, induction and term-start periods. At Wolsey Hall Oxford, we offer examinations in January, March, June and November. Leave requests during these times will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to disclose any pre-booked or planned leave during these periods at interview. Applicants should be aware that leave during these times may not be accommodated due to operational requirements.
