Job Summary: The Executive Director of Talent & Human Resources serves as a strategic partner and operational leader, responsible for building a proactive, compliant, and data-driven HR function. This role participates directly in President level Cabinet management process to enable proactive vs reactive plans. This role focuses on translating institutional goals into a sequenced workforce strategy, optimizing talent and total rewards, and positioning Workday as a core catalyst to automate low-value work, elevate talent processes, and deliver actionable analytics. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Compensation, Benefits & Leave Administration 25% Design and oversee competitive compensation structures/processes, comprehensive benefits packages, and recognition programs. Manage complex leave programs (FMLA, sabbaticals, disability) with empathy and policy adherence. Ensure all compensation and benefit structures are accurately aligned to changing scale of organization. Talent & Performance Management 25% Oversee the full talent lifecycle, including modern recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies. Create employee engagement strategies to support changes, high performance and retention. Implement continuous performance management systems and leadership development pipelines. Enable a tiered process for supporting employee relations and performance management coaching. Team Capability & Service Delivery 15% Mentor and lead a small HR team, fostering continuous professional development and technological fluency. Continuously improve HR service delivery by establishing clear service-level agreements (SLAs). Position the HR function as a collaborative, transparent, and modern partner across campus. Strategy & Workforce Planning 15% Translate institutional goals and academic priorities into a sequenced, actionable workforce strategy. Lead strategic workforce planning, identifying capability gaps, structural updates and forecasting future talent needs. Workday Optimization & Data Analytics 10% Leverage Workday proactively to continuously improve, streamline, and automate talent processes. Eliminate administrative burdens and low-value manual work by optimizing Workday workflows and self-service features. Establish a suite of data-based metrics and dashboards to guide leadership decisions and prompt institutional action. Proactive Compliance Management 10% Lead a proactive compliance process, anticipating shifts in higher education, federal, state, and local employment laws. Conduct regular audits of institutional HR practices, policies, and records to mitigate risk before issues arise. Oversee mandatory training programs, Title IX alignment, and equity initiatives across faculty and staff. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree 5 - 7 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with 2 - 3 years at a director level in a similar sized organization. Demonstrated experience partnering with Senior leaders to create strategies and solutions in an agile and accelerated approach. Technical Expertise: Proven experience leveraging Workday or other HCM as a primary HRIS to automate processes and generate advanced analytics. Key competencies: Agility, Operational Effectiveness- Ability to translate requirements into actionable plan; Highly Collaborative with cross-functional partners. Strong critical thinking skills. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in HR Higher education or service organization experience.
