We are looking for an Exoskeleton Design and Rehabilitation Engineering Intern to support research and development efforts focused on innovative wearable exoskeleton systems that enhance rehabilitation, mobility, and patient outcomes. This position will be Part-Time and Remote.

What You'll Do
- Create and modify 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks
- Design components and assemblies for lower-limb, shoulder, and lumbar exoskeleton systems
- Prepare and optimize CAD models for 3D printing and prototype fabrication
- Assist in the assembly, evaluation, testing, and refinement of exoskeleton prototypes
- Collaborate with graduate students, medical students, and research staff on multidisciplinary research projects
- Participate in research meetings and contribute to project planning and technical discussions
- Document design iterations, testing results, and project progress
- Support the development of rehabilitation technologies intended to improve patient mobility, strength, and recovery outcomes
- Assist in transitioning concepts into functional prototypes through iterative design and testing
What You'll Need
Required:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Rehabilitation Engineering, or a related field
- Basic experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and ability to document technical work accurately
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with 3D printing, additive manufacturing, or rapid prototyping
- Interest in rehabilitation robotics and wearable assistive technologies
- Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies
- Exposure to biomedical device development or engineering research projects
- Familiarity with prototype testing and iterative product development processes
- Experience working in multidisciplinary academic or research environments
Physical Demands
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
- Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$20 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will include 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
