Closing date: 11 August 2026 Salary: Grade 11, ranging from £19,822 - £22,112 for 22.5 hours per week. Permanent, 22.5 hours a week full time hours might be considered Hybrid Working, with opportunities to work from home. 25 day’s annual leave (additional to bank holidays), pro rata for Part Time. Role summary As a Family Front Door Practitioner, you'll play a vital role in helping children, young people and families access the right support at the right time. Working closely with professionals, partner agencies and families, you'll assess referrals, gather and analyse information, and make informed recommendations that help achieve the best possible outcomes. You'll be a key link between Early Help and Children's Social Care, providing guidance, training and support to ensure referrals are effective and consistent. By promoting collaborative working, supporting step-up and step-down processes, and helping to develop high-quality Early Help practice across Somerset, you'll contribute to continuous improvement and make a real difference to the lives of children and families. What you’ll do - key responsibilities Lead and oversee the Early Help Assessment (EHA/CAF) process and business support team. Work with MASH and partner agencies to deliver effective early intervention and seamless support for families. Provide advice and guidance to practitioners through a duty rota and specialist support. Champion the Early Help approach across schools, communities and multi-agency partnerships. Develop and deliver EHA and Lead Professional training across Somerset. Maintain and improve EHA systems, processes, guidance and resources. Monitor performance, analyse data and lead quality assurance to drive service improvement. Build strong partnerships with schools, early years providers, voluntary organisations and key stakeholders. Provide expert guidance on Early Help, safeguarding and thresholds of need. Implement best practice and national developments to support continuous improvement. Promote local Early Help services and resources through communications and engagement activities. Monitor support plans and help improve outcomes for children, young people and families. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding, early intervention and integrated working practices. What we’re looking for – knowledge, experience & skills Sound knowledge of Early Help Assessments (EHA), Team Around the Family, family functioning and safeguarding. Understanding of children's services, multi-agency working and child protection. Experience working directly with children, young people and families, including conducting assessments. Experience supporting children with additional needs or disabilities. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and other digital systems. Ability to manage competing priorities, work to deadlines and make informed decisions. Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of children's play, learning and development needs. Experience delivering training or presentations. Level 3/4 qualification in Education, Health, Youth Work, Early Years or a related field (or equivalent). Commitment to safeguarding, equality, confidentiality and continuous professional development. Ability to travel across Somerset and work from different locations as required.
