Claims Field Consultant - Home Insurance (Internal Loss Adjuster)
Location: Home/Field-based, covering NW England
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience
About our client
We’re partnering with one of the UK’s largest home insurance providers. They’re a household name, and they’re investing heavily in their claims operation to make it more customer-focused and digital. Their in-house claims teams look after customers at some of the most stressful moments of their lives, and they’re growing their field presence across the UK.
The role
As a Claims Field Consultant, you’ll join a regional claims management team handling property claims valued at up to £50,000. You’ll split your time between remote claims handling and visits to customers’ homes, giving face-to-face support when it matters most. You’ll work closely with desk-based claims handlers and the supplier network to move each claim from first visit to settlement.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out customer home visits and managing claims remotely, with the aim of a fair, fast and well-explained outcome for each customer
- Assessing buildings damage on first visit, scoping repairs against a schedule of rates, and using photos, video and site data to validate and settle claims accurately
- Validating cover across the full range of perils and policy sections, and managing customer expectations throughout
- Spotting customer vulnerability early and building tailored claim plans and settlement solutions around it
- Juggling a varied caseload, including during weather events and surge periods, and keeping every claim moving towards resolution
- Working safely on site in line with Health & Safety standards
- Sharing your technical knowledge with colleagues to raise standards across the team
What you’ll bring
- General insurance claims experience, with a solid understanding of policy wordings and claims handling principles
- Strong knowledge of building construction, common causes of defects and building failure, and the repairs they need
- Awareness of Health & Safety requirements for site work
- CII or CILA qualifications, or a willingness to work towards them (study support is available)
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to deliver difficult decisions with empathy in person, by phone or digitally
- Experience supporting vulnerable customers
- Strong organisation and time management, and the ability to run your own diary and caseload independently
- A full, current UK driving licence
Why apply?
- A secure, permanent role with a market-leading insurer
- Home-based with regional field work. Some travel to the company’s UK offices for training and team events is required
- A genuine development route, with funded professional qualifications
- Flexible working considered, and a supportive, inclusive culture (our client is a Disability Confident employer)
