Field Education Coordinator - Community Services

Help shape the next generation of community services practitioners by connecting academic learning with meaningful professional practice. As ACAP’s Field Education Coordinator – Community Services, you will support students to develop the skills, confidence and critical reflection required for ethical, effective practice.

This national role sits within the Careers and Industry division, in the Discipline of Social Work and Human Services, and reports to the Course Leader. Working closely with the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team, agency partners and field educators, you will support high-quality placements and supervise ACAP-appointed Field Education Liaison Officers and External Field Educators.

The role suits an experienced community services professional who brings a strong commitment to student learning, collaborative relationships and quality field education.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Support placement planning, student allocations and preparation, ensuring alignment with Community Work Australia accreditation and fieldwork placement requirements.
• Deliver integration seminars and placement briefings, supporting students to connect theory with practice and critically reflect on their learning.
• Supervise and support Field Education Liaison Officers and External Field Educators, contribute to their professional development and provide student supervision as required.
• Monitor placement progress and learning outcomes, review feedback on student academic work and maintain accurate placement records in SONIA.
• Work with students, agencies and colleagues to resolve placement concerns, mediate difficulties and support appropriate responses to placements at risk.
• Strengthen industry partnerships and contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of field education and student placement opportunities.

Essential

• A qualification in community services, welfare work, human services, social work or a related discipline, at or above the level of the course delivered.
• At least three years’ full-time post-qualifying practice experience, or part-time equivalent, and eligibility for full membership with Community Work Australia (CWA).
• Experience working in a tertiary education institution and/or Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
• Knowledge of current CWA fieldwork placement requirements and workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
• Strong organisational, time management and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education.

Desirable

• Experience supporting students undertaking field education in Australian community services degrees and/or proficiency in SONIA. Transferable skills in supervision, mentoring and stakeholder liaison are also valued.
