Job Summary
Monitor plant operating parameters locally and coordinate with the CCR Operator on all activities affecting plant operations. Responsible for the safe start-up and shutdown of the plant in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Roles & Responsibilities
- Comply with safety rules and regulations and be familiar with firefighting equipment in the assigned area. Follow the instructions of the Shift Supervisor / Shift Charge Engineer and CCR Operator.
- Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, basic control logic, emergency operating procedures, and other related documents.
- Monitor operating parameters and record periodic readings on log sheets. Summarize all activities and events occurring during the shift in the logbook.
- Inspect assigned areas and auxiliary equipment during the shift to ensure all equipment parameters remain within acceptable limits. Report abnormalities to the CCR Operator.
- Perform equipment changeovers according to established schedules and raise work requests or defect notifications for faulty equipment.
- Coordinate with the CCR Operator / Shift Supervisor for equipment and system isolation and line-up before and after maintenance activities. Maintain good housekeeping in the work area and ensure proper clean-up following maintenance work.
- Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions.
- Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
- Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
- Report deviations related to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
- Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational
Desired
- Diploma.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Minimum Experience (Type and Duration)
Minimum
- 4 years of experience in Power and/or Desalination Plant operations.
Preferable
- Experience in the Middle East.
Required Skills
- General awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management System principles.
- Knowledge of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
- Knowledge of emission monitoring.
- Knowledge of the environmental and health impacts of chemicals used in the plant.
- Knowledge of firefighting equipment.
- Knowledge of PPE and safety equipment.
- Knowledge of first-aid measures.
- Good knowledge of Power/Water Plant operational activities.
- Good communication skills.
Desired Certification / Job Specific Skill / Training
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred.
