Role Description The Field Service Technician role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Corpus Christi, TX, with some work-from-home flexibility for documentation, reporting, and remote support tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing on-site electrical testing and commissioning for VFDs, breakers, LV switchboards, MV switchgear, and cables, as well as conducting ground fault testing, power quality checks, and harmonics studies. The technician will inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical equipment, document findings, prepare service reports, and communicate results and recommendations to customers and internal teams. The role involves collaborating with engineers on arc flash studies and engineered solutions, following safety procedures and industry standards, and traveling to client sites as needed. The technician is expected to use test instruments, maintain tools and equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement of service processes.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with electrical testing and commissioning of VFDs, breakers, LV switchboards, MV switchgear, and cables.
- Knowledge of power quality, harmonics, ground fault testing, and arc flash studies, with the ability to follow relevant codes and standards.
- Proficiency in using electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools, including PDMA motor testing systems or similar technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Commitment to safety practices, risk assessment, and compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction, report writing, and team collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to work independently in the field.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites within the region.
- Associate degree or technical certification in electrical technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience in industrial or utility environments is preferred; familiarity with engineered solutions and project-based work is a plus.
