ABOUT NEW STORY

Land unlocks everything. It is the starting point for home ownership, stability, safety, and wealth generation. Yet for millions of working families across Latin America, affordable, well-located, serviced land with legal title is out of reach. That’s why New Story exists: to pave the way to homeownership for working families, starting with the land that makes everything else possible.

Our market-driven model treats vulnerable people as customers, not charitable beneficiaries. We've developed a pipeline of 2,300+ housing lots across 7 master-planned neighborhoods in Mexico, are preparing a new development in El Salvador, have launched a first-of-its-kind impact investment fund, and have demonstrated 99%+ repayment rates with 2x property value appreciation in developed communities. And over 60% of our land titles are held by women, compared to Mexico's national average of 35%.

We work with philanthropists, impact investors, financial institutions, and key players in the housing ecosystem worldwide to create sustainable housing solutions for working families across Latin America. We empower families to become active participants in a market where they can afford the housing they want.

Founded in 2015, New Story has raised over $120M, impacted 15,000+ individuals, and been named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies four times. Today, we're focused on what we believe are the two most neglected yet critical parts of the housing value chain: affordable land ownership and housing finance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Finance & Accounting Manager will primarily manage finance and accounting operations related to New Story’s impact programs, investment projects, and core administrative needs. The role will coordinate the Mexico monthly close, oversee treasury and payment workflows, review outsourced accounting deliverables, maintain entity- and project-level financial schedules, and support the financial operating requirements of New Story’s investment portfolio, funds, trusts, and development projects. Areas of responsibility include treasury management, accounting compliance, local legal administration, and expense and budget monitoring. The role requires a clear communicator who regularly coordinates with external partners, including outsourced Mexican accounting and tax providers, third-party fund administrators, and development partners. This role includes employee lifecycle administration, benefits coordination, and leave tracking for our Mexico-based team, supporting organizational finances and HR operations.

We operate as a lean but mighty team, so this position is designed for a resourceful finance professional who combines strong accounting fundamentals and experience with a builder mindset. The successful candidate will be comfortable reviewing the work of external providers while also personally investigating discrepancies, preparing reconciliations and analyses, documenting processes, and implementing practical controls in a dynamic, technology-oriented organization. We are looking for someone not simply satisfied with the status quo but who will think proactively, identify solutions, and always strive to refine how we operate so that we can solve the problem New Story is trying to solve.
