A finance assistant performs a range of administrative and financial tasks to support the finance or accounts team of an organisation. They support the finance department by ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day financial processes. Reconcile creditor accounts, fuel charges, purchase cards and other similar administrative support duties. Recording, processing and investigating invoice queries and ensuring a timely resolution. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders as required. Inputting cost journals in line with relevant procedures with appropriate approval and communication. Assist accounting team with month end processes, ensuring accurate recording of costs. Process allocated staff expenses in accordance with the Costain policy. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential Ability to work well under pressure, solving problems in a calm and rational manner and always acting with integrity. Have clear written and oral communication skills. Is a good team player and demonstrates a positive ‘can do’ attitude. Keen to learn and to be challenged. Desirable Experience of using EnterpriseOne (E1) or other accountancy software. Previous experience in an accounting or accounts assistant position.
