About 5* Ecoresort Portobali
At 5* Ecoresort Portobali, we want to develop the most sustainable tourism accommodation in Iberia, while meeting high luxury standards, based on the following 2 commitments and beliefs:
• The target to reduce energy by 40%.
• What is good for people is good for the planet.
Located in the municipality of Felgueiras, 40 minutes from Porto, we offer a work environment where personal and business growth needs to be aligned with our ambition to continuously extend boundaries within the hospitality industry.
Your Mission
This role exists because the project is entering procurement and early construction, the point at which cost-code structures and evidence trails are either built correctly or become a permanent audit risk.
You will own the financial administration bridge between construction spend, ESG/BREEAM certification evidence, and funding-body reporting, ensuring that figures leaving the finance function are audit-ready before they are signed off.
The tone of this role is institutional gravitas: precision, reconciliation discipline, and comfort with regulatory and funder scrutiny.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and maintain a cost-code structure that isolates certification-related and funding-eligible spend
from general construction costs from the outset of the project.
• Confirm, in partnership with ESG/BREEAM and the funding-application lead, which cost categories are
fundable versus company-only before contracts are signed.
• Structure purchase orders and contracts so that certification-relevant line items are tagged at the
point of entry, eliminating the need for retroactive reconstruction.
• Pay invoices, supported by the payment records against the certification evidence log, creating a
single auditable trail usable by both the certification assessor and the funder.
• Produce interim and final cost-to-date statements, reconciled against budget and against the
certification evidence log, on the agreed reporting cadence.
• Sign off all figures before they leave the finance function and be accountable for those figures in the
event of a funder audit.
• Partner cross-functionally with ESG/BREEAM Certification, the Funding Application lead, and the
Developer PM to keep certification, funding, and cost data synchronized at every handover point.
Requirements / Qualifications
• 8–12 years of experience in financial administration, cost accounting, or project controls, ideally within
construction, real estate development, or hospitality.
• Demonstrated experience building or maintaining cost-code structures for capital projects with mixed
funding sources (private capital plus grants, subsidies, or public funding schemes).
• Working knowledge of sustainability certification frameworks (e.g. BREEAM, Green Key) and how
certification evidence requirements intersect with financial reporting.
• Experience managing audit trails for external funders or grant bodies, including experience supporting
a funder audit directly.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to translate financial reconciliation into clear
statements for non-financial stakeholders (ESG assessors, funders, Developer PM).
• Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken, given the bilingual nature of project-
facing documentation.
• Proficiency in Excel-based financial models and reconciliation workbooks; experience with
construction cost-management software is an advantage.
How to Apply
• Apply via [email protected], including a motivation letter and your CV, directly to the
hiring manager: Marianne van Groeningen (Co-founder).
• We respond to all applicants within 2 weeks.
