Want to help shape the future of community living? I'm recruiting for a Finance Lead.
📍 US: hybrid San Francisco, or remote anywhere in the US to start
Most real estate finance roles ask you to optimise a spreadsheet. This one asks you to help decide how people will live.
My client is a well-funded, early-stage real estate development business focused on community living: creating places designed around people, connection and wellbeing. They're a small, ambitious team with experience at some of the best-known names in real estate and tech, and they're now making one of their first full-time hires.
This isn't a seat in a deal team. It's a chance to be part of the founding team, own the numbers behind every project and play a central role in where the business goes next.
🔎 What you'll do:
🔹 Underwrite new sites from first principles and build the models that decide which projects go ahead
🔹 Value mixed-use schemes that bring several asset classes together in one place
🔹 Choose development partners and raise project financing for live deals
🔹 Lead diligence and negotiate directly with landowners, brokers, JV partners and capital partners
🔹 Get out on the ground, building trust with local stakeholders and making the case for each project in person
🔹 Pick up whatever will move the business forward. There are no rigid lanes here.
✅ What they're looking for:
🔸 3–6 years in ground-up real estate development, real estate private equity or project finance
🔸 Experience beyond acquisitions, ideally across site evaluation, planning and entitlements, partner selection and capital raising
🔸 Strong underwriting skills across asset classes (mixed-use experience is a real plus) and the ability to explain complex deals simply
🔸 Hands-on negotiation and diligence experience: you've been at the table
🔸 High EQ, low ego and a natural relationship builder who enjoys frequent travel
🔸 A mission-driven outlook. Perhaps you've enjoyed institutional real estate but want more agency, more impact and work that means something.
💰 What's on offer:
🔹 $150K–$185K base salary
🔹 Meaningful equity in an early-stage business
🔹 Health insurance and other benefits
🔹 Hybrid in San Francisco or remote across the US to start
🔹 Visa sponsorship and transfers considered
This role suits someone who likes pace, autonomy and a bit of healthy chaos, and who'd rather build something new than maintain something old.
If that sounds like you, please get in touch with your resume.
