Finance Manager

Role Overview:

We're looking for a highly execution-driven Finance/Accounting Manager to work directly alongside leadership and help run day-to-day client delivery. This person will own team oversight, month-end close execution, and client quality, while helping us build systems and automation to scale.

This is not a passive manager role. You will be in the weeds, driving deadlines, holding the team accountable, and ensuring every client deliverable meets a high bar. You must be comfortable communicating directly with clients in order to understand their unique requirements and how best we can assist them.

• Location: Fully remote

• Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM South Africa time

• Client Base: US-based clients

Work with US-Based Clients:

Ever Ledger exclusively services US based clients, and you will be a key part of ensuring delivery to clients is efficient and up to standard. This is an opportunity to work directly with US-based clients and businesses, gaining valuable international accounting experience while working remotely from South Africa. You’ll be responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing accounting functions, and working with US financial processes, systems and reporting standards. For the right candidate, this role offers the chance to build a strong US accounting skill set and international client portfolio while progressing your career in a growing firm.

Most of our clients operate in the CPG, e-commerce and technology industries, with many being young, ambitious founders experiencing rapid growth. You’ll therefore need to understand - or be willing to learn - the accounting complexities associated with inventory, e-commerce and retail businesses.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership & Oversight

• Manage and oversee a team of bookkeepers/accountants

• Review work for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness

• Train, mentor, and upskill team members

• Ensure accountability on deadlines and deliverables

2. Month-End Close Ownership

• Run point on month-end close across all assigned clients

• Ensure all closes are completed on time and at a high standard

• Identify and resolve bottlenecks proactively

• Standardize and improve close processes across clients

3. Systems & Automation

• Drive adoption and oversight of internal tools (e.g. practice management software)

• Identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks and reduce manual work

4. Client Management (US-Facing)

• Serve as a primary point of contact for select clients

• Communicate clearly and professionally with U.S.-based founders/operators

• Handle client requests, questions, and escalations

5. Execution & Delivery Support

• Jump in when needed to unblock work or handle complex accounting issues

• Maintain a high bar for output across financials, reporting, and communication

Who This Role Is For:

• 5 - 8 years of experience in accounting or financial services

• Solid experience managing teams (ideally remote teams + US coordination)

Preferred Background:

• Strong QuickBooks and month-end close experience

• Experience working with startups, SaaS, or CPG companies preferred

• Familiarity with automation tools and process optimisation a plus
