Finance Officer

Financial Management & Strategic Reporting Are you an experienced finance professional with strong accounting knowledge, commercial judgement, and the ability to independently manage finance workstreams? Do you have experience coordinating financial operations, supporting decision-making, guiding junior team members, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery? Our client is seeking a Finance Officer to independently deliver defined Finance workstreams, coordinate day-to-day inputs and raise the quality and reliability of execution while preparing for broader account or functional leadership. Key Responsibilities Maintain complete and accurate books of account, ledgers, journals, schedules and supporting documentation in the approved accounting system. Raise client invoices promptly against approved contracts, purchase orders and milestones; maintain the receivables register and follow up collections professionally. Process approved supplier bills, staff reimbursements and payments while verifying authorisation, documentation, tax treatment and budget availability. Prepare weekly cash-position and collections updates and support rolling cash-flow forecasts. Reconcile bank accounts, payment platforms, petty cash, receivables, payables and control accounts monthly; investigate differences promptly. Support monthly payroll preparation, statutory deductions and employee-related schedules while maintaining strict confidentiality. Prepare and maintain schedules for VAT, withholding tax, PAYE, pension and other applicable statutory obligations; coordinate accurate and timely filings/payment with approved advisers where required. Produce monthly management accounts and decision-useful analysis covering revenue, costs, cash, debtors, creditors, budget variance and project/account profitability. Track project budgets, commitments, vendor costs, timesheets and margins; flag scope, cost or billing risks to account and business leads early. Coordinate defined workstreams, quality-check associate outputs and keep the manager informed of delivery, budget and stakeholder risks. Coach associates, document useful knowledge and contribute practical ideas that improve quality, speed or commercial value. Ideal Candidate Profile Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; ICAN/ACCA qualification or active professional progression is advantageous. Typically 3–5 years’ relevant experience with evidence of independently delivering substantial workstreams in a multi-client, project or commercial environment. Strong working command of the function’s core tools and processes, with sound judgement, clear client-ready communication and emerging leadership capability.
