DSY has been exclusively engaged to appoint a Financial Accountant – Compliance & Reporting for a successful ASX listed manufacturer as it prepares for its launch in the US.

Work from home (Perth Metro only) Monday – Friday including occasional catchups with the Senior Controller and CFO.

This is a newly created position, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Group’s financial reporting, balance sheet, statutory compliance and technical accounting. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role supports month-end reporting, audit, statutory financial statements, listed-company reporting and complex accounting matters, while helping maintain an audit-ready finance function as the Group grows.

You will be hands-on, technically strong and commercially practical. Comfortable working directly with the CFO, Controller and auditors, challenging unexplained balances, resolving accounting issues and maintaining clear evidence behind reported financial results in a growing listed-company environment.

Practical AASB 2 / IFRS 2 share-based payment experience, including options, performance rights, vesting conditions, modifications and related disclosures. Prior ASX-listed company or listed-company audit experience is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control

  • Own key month-end accounting processes including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Review general-ledger integrity and investigate unusual, unsupported or incorrect balances.
  • Maintain intercompany accounts, consolidation entries and eliminations where required.
  • Support preparation of monthly management accounts, cash-flow and working-capital reporting.
  • Ensure reconciliations are completed, supported and outstanding items are resolved promptly.

Statutory, Audit & Compliance

  • Support preparation of annual and half-year financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Prepare audit workpapers, reconciliations and supporting documentation and coordinate responses to auditor queries.
  • Support ASIC, ASX and other statutory reporting requirements, including appropriate evidence and audit trails.
  • Assist with BAS, FBT, payroll tax, income tax and other compliance obligations in conjunction with external advisers.
  • Maintain and improve financial policies, accounting procedures and internal-control documentation.

Technical Accounting & ASX Reporting

  • Research and document accounting treatments for material, unusual or non-routine transactions.
  • Prepare accounting position papers and supporting analysis for management and auditors.
  • Support accounting for share-based payments, employee and director options, performance rights, leases, provisions, impairment, revenue recognition, financial instruments and acquisitions.
  • Assist with Appendix 4D, Appendix 4E, annual reports and financial information used in ASX announcements and investor reporting.
  • Maintain clear documentation supporting externally reported financial information and technical accounting conclusions.

Operational Finance & Business Support

  • Work with the Inventory Controller to reconcile inventory systems and subledgers to the general ledger.
  • Support accounting for inventory provisions, write-downs, landed cost and valuation matters, including audit support under AASB 102.
  • Support finance-system and process improvements and identify control weaknesses requiring corrective action.
  • Provide accounting and compliance support to the CFO and broader business as required.

Key Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CA/CPA qualified or progressing toward qualification.
  • Approximately 3–6 years’ relevant financial accounting experience, including month-end reporting, balance-sheet control and audit support.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and the ability to investigate accounting issues independently.
  • Strong Excel and financial-systems capability, with high attention to detail and ownership through to resolution.
  • ASX-listed company experience, listed-company audit experience, statutory reporting and AASB 2 / IFRS 2 share-based payment exposure are highly regarded.
  • Multi-entity, international, inventory-intensive, distribution or operationally complex business experience is desirable.
  • Australian Citizen / Permanent Resident is a must
