Financial Accountant

Full-time, Permanent

Hybrid | Salford Quays, Manchester | 2 days per week in the office

The Role

The Financial Accountant is part of the Financial Control team within the wider Bupa Dental Care Finance function. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting activities, with a particular focus on financial control, reporting, audit and compliance across a portfolio of legal entities.

You'll play a key role in the month-end and quarter-end reporting cycle, ensuring the accurate reporting of profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow information in line with accounting standards and principles. You'll also support the Senior Financial Accountants with external and internal audits, statutory accounts submissions across 135 legal entities, and corporation tax and VAT activities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting monthly and quarterly reporting activities, ensuring deadlines are met, including balance sheet and cashflow reporting, IFRS submissions and Solvency II requirements.
• Working closely with Senior Financial Accountants to ensure the end-to-end reporting cycle is completed, reconciled and reported in line with month-end timetables.
• Preparing reconciliations and supporting balance sheet reviews, ensuring reporting is accurate, compliant and supported by appropriate documentation.
• Validating accruals, prepayments, provisions and related charges, maintaining robust supporting evidence and escalating any issues where required.
• Supporting the completion of corporation tax and VAT returns.
• Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts, responding to audit queries and providing supporting documentation.
• Maintaining and running the depreciation cycle.
• Supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of financial controls, reconciliations and reporting processes across the business.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACA/ICAEW or ACCA).
• Strong financial accounting knowledge, including a solid understanding of double-entry accounting principles.
• Experience working to tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Advanced IT skills, including Excel and financial systems. Experience of Oracle would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a customer-focused approach.
• The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the business.
• A proactive mindset, with a willingness to learn and adapt to changing business needs.
• A positive, can-do attitude and a strong sense of ownership.
• Commercial awareness and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
