Budgeted Pay Range: $58,100.56 to $98,042.45 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine is looking for a Financial Analyst 1 to join our finance team and support financial operations for institute-level services, shared building expenses, and core service billing. In this remote, fixed-term role, you will perform moderately complex financial analysis, reconciliation, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities that support internal service centers, building operations, and research-related financial administration. In this position, you will manage recurring billing and reconciliation processes for services such as glassware washing, media preparation, Cintas uniform and linen services, FACS Core usage, and shared facility costs, including building gases, supplies, building management allocations, and other operational expenses. You will work with financial data from multiple systems, identify and research discrepancies, use sound judgment to recommend solutions, and communicate clearly with faculty, staff, lab managers, core facility personnel, and finance team members. You will help ensure that charges are accurate, properly allocated, well documented, and compliant with institutional policies, recharge principles, sponsor requirements, and applicable external regulations. You will also contribute to budget development, variance analysis, financial forecasting, process improvement, and cross-training within the finance team. This role is a good fit for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, collaborative, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. Two or more years of relevant financial experience. Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reconciliation practices. Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking. Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Familiarity with sponsored project guidelines and internal recharge policies is preferred. Core Duties : Perform structured analysis; conduct data mining; identify, clarify, and investigate discrepancies and exceptions; proactively develop solutions and processes. Maintain, reconcile, review, combine, and validate financial data sets and accounts, utilizing financial reports, financial databases, and key financial information. Contribute to development of budget, forecasting, and analyses to be used for key activities or decision making. Run and analyze financial reports, often from multiple systems; assist in preparation of management information reports. Resolve issues within immediate work unit; Perform preliminary analysis, recognize exceptions and recommend solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes. Ensure works complies with complex internal policies and external regulations which may require interpretation. Participate as a member of a project team and contribute to change management strategy through communication and collaboration with others. Serve as a first line resource to client groups on matters in work unit. Understand and participate in cross training on core functions in work area or unit; serve as a back-up to other functions. May supervise the day-to-day activities and provide on the job coaching and training to other staff, as needed. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. User knowledge and demonstrated experience of financial systems; internet and computer literacy. Understanding and ability to apply basic accounting skills and concepts. Demonstrated communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups. Basic project management skills and ability to contribute as part of a project team.
