DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Finance Team develops near and long-term financial forecasts, crafts pro-forma and ad-hoc financial analyses, manages and optimizes cost accounting and service line reporting, advises, and coaches all levels of leaders to better understand and influence their financial performance, creates and innovates financial reporting, and maintains the organization’s financial software systems. Collaborates with the Accounting Team on reporting, financial analyses, and various other topics.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Financial Analyst serves as an internal consultant, providing financial analysis, strategic insights, and data-driven recommendations to support organization decision-making. This role is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the cost accounting system, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of cost accounting data, service line reporting, and financial performance metrics. The position plays a key role in advancing cost transformation initiatives, identifying opportunities for operational and financial improvement, and translating complex information into actionable insights.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Processes, reconciles, and publishes monthly Cost Accounting results. Partners with IT resources to ensure data interactions are accurate and identifying current issues. Researches and implements software updates, proactively identifying improvement opportunities and take actions.

In collaboration with the Financial Insight and Analysis Manager, assists Service Line Leaders and Senior Directors with projects and/or assignments relating to development, performance, and improvement for the service line.

In collaboration with the Financial Insight and Analysis Manager, drives consistency, system-wide service line approach across all facilities in conjunction with processes and standards set by leadership.

Prepares, validates, and analyzes monthly and daily financial information. Utilizes all tools, including Labor Productivity and Cost Accounting systems to share insightful and useful information with various audiences.

Drives insight into service line performance and provides recommendations to support decision-making.

Discovers and coordinates service line initiatives to improve operating efficiencies, revenue optimization, and cost transformation.

Leverages cost accounting and service line reporting in financial analysis and modeling.

In collaboration with the Financial Insight and Analysis Manager, supports decision making through report development and analysis for financial modeling, cost and revenue analysis, operational benchmarking, ad-hoc analysis, and performance improvement.

Readily communicates complex financial concepts to all levels of leadership in a way that is easy to understand.

Pursues continuous improvement of metrics and empower leaders with an understanding of how their decisions impact the cost of healthcare.

Supports the creation of standard work for systems and processes.

Consolidates input from operational leaders and Finance Analyst to develop operational budgets.

Supports the creation of the long-range financial plan and the operating budget.

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.

Preferred: N/A

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required: Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet SCHS driving requirements. Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all SCHS worksites.

Preferred: HFMA membership and certification.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Two (2) years finance experience. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint) and document preparation.

Preferred: Finance experience in the health care industry. Experience with cost accounting design and maintenance, clinical data systems, and rolling forecast.
