# Senior Research Financial Analyst

## About the Role

Baystate Health is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven **Senior Research Financial Analyst** to support system-wide research financial operations. This role focuses on financial integrity, compliance, and operational excellence across a complex research portfolio.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Research Operations, the Research Financial Analyst will support **Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA)** financial activities while partnering with investigators, finance teams, and compliance stakeholders. The position is well suited to professionals with experience in sponsored programs, research finance, grants management, or financial operations.

## Key Responsibilities

* Support the financial management of sponsored research programs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

* Prepare and analyze general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and budget-to-actual reports.

* Assist with award setup in financial systems by coordinating documentation and collaborating with Sponsored Programs Administration.

* Manage invoicing and accounts receivable (A/R) to support accurate billing and timely collections.

* Develop and format financial reports and dashboards for internal leadership review.

* Contribute to bi-monthly deficit reporting and support leadership decision-making.

* Process journal entries, budget adjustments, and activity closeouts in alignment with sponsor timelines.

* Maintain knowledge of sponsor regulations and institutional policies to help minimize compliance risk.

* Provide guidance and training to staff on financial reporting and financial systems.

## Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

* 1–3 years of experience in research finance, grants management, or financial operations.

* Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office.

* Strong understanding of accounting principles, sponsored program regulations, and compliance requirements.

* Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.

* Advanced skills in Lawson financial systems, Excel, and reporting tools.

## Compensation & Benefits

**Base Salary Range:**

* **Minimum:** $77,064

* **Midpoint:** $92,040

* **Maximum:** $112,923

Baystate Health states that new hires typically start in the lower portion of the applicable salary range, with actual compensation determined based on relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the applicable range.
