Overview


In this role, the incumbent will contribute to the delivery of macroeconomic scenarios used to inform financial forecasting and assessments of capital adequacy. This individual is expected to contribute to economic research and analysis projects supporting the compilation of reporting and recommendations to senior management that will be used to inform financial forecasts.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the development and publication of macroeconomic scenarios informing financial forecasting and assessments of capital adequacy.
  • Support ongoing monitoring of macroeconomic scenario forecasts against actuals in support of financial and capital planning processes.
  • Provide cross-training and support to new team members.
  • Contribute to the production of management reporting highlighting key aspects of macroeconomic scenarios.
  • Assist with research and analytical projects involving macroeconomic conditions to provide senior management with economic trend data and recommendations for use in financial forecasting processes.
  • Execute and suggest improvements and enhancements to existing processes by working with others on closely related teams to exchange information in a collaborative and professional manner.
  • Enhance the sustainability and documentation of assigned tasks and processes.
  • Display proficiency in the systems and tools used to generate standard management reports on a periodic basis.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of finance and economic concepts through the aggregation of financial and economic data.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities across the Finance division and among supported businesses and activities.
  • Understand and adhere to department timelines and deliverables.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators, as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required


  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience OR Associate's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in economics, finance, or financial institutions.
  • Good knowledge of finance and/or economics concepts, plus basic knowledge of the banking industry.
  • High level of PC competencies (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access). Data visualization or data querying applications are a plus.

Education and Experience Preferred


  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of Python programming language.
  • Experience with data visualization (Power BI) or data querying applications (Microsoft SQL).

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $62,200.00 - $103,600.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
