Financial Assessment Officer | 11326 | Temporary Contract until 31 March 2027 | 37 hours per week | £33,119 to £34,811 per annum (Scale G) | County Hall, Norwich

We are seeking a Financial Assessment Officer to join our Finance Exchequer Services team based at County Hall.

This is a rewarding and influential role where you will support people receiving adult social care services, as well as their families, carers and representatives. You will undertake financial assessments, determine individuals’ contributions towards the cost of their care, and communicate decisions clearly, accurately and with sensitivity. You will also provide guidance on welfare benefit entitlement and help individuals access the financial support available to them.

The role offers a varied and challenging workload, with no two cases being the same. You may deal with complex financial circumstances, matters relating to mental capacity, complaints, or situations involving potential financial abuse. You will be expected to carefully evaluate information, exercise sound judgement, and communicate outcomes in a way that reflects each individual’s needs and level of understanding.

We are looking for a professional who combines strong numerical and analytical skills with empathy, integrity and excellent communication abilities. You will need relevant financial assessment experience, a good understanding of welfare benefits and the Care Act 2014, and the confidence to interpret complex financial and legal information.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across Adult Social Care and partner organisations, including the Department for Work and Pensions, you will play an important role in delivering a high-quality service. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities effectively, and confident using computerised financial systems and digital technologies.
