Financial Controller (Remote)

A profitable, founder-owned consumer products group with nine-figure revenue is hiring a Financial Controller. The business is fully self-funded with no outside investors, sells physical products at serious scale across major online marketplaces, DTC, and retail, and has grown fast.

Finance has to catch up with the business, and that is the job.

The role

You will own the controllership function end to end, working directly with the founder/CEO and the group's CFO. This is a hands-on build role in a multi-entity, high-transaction-volume environment, not a review-and-delegate seat. You will design the processes, implement the controls, and close the books yourself before you optimise and delegate.

You will own:

• A fast, disciplined month-end close across all entities, with accurate draft financials on the CEO's desk within the first week of the month. Speed and accuracy are both non-negotiable.
• Consolidated, decision-grade financials, including intercompany eliminations and clean entity-level P&Ls.
• Payment integrity and AP controls: vendors paid accurately, on time, once. Duplicate-payment detection, fraud prevention, approval workflows, and vendor master hygiene are yours to design and enforce.
• Systems: driving the finance side of a modern ERP build-out (e.g. NetSuite) so the stack works as one coherent system.
• Inventory and COGS accounting for a high-SKU physical-product business: landed costs, inventory valuation, marketplace settlement reconciliation, channel-level margin visibility.

An existing accounting team and deep offshore support bench are available to you, and hiring asks will be backed.

Who this fits

• A proven controller (or strong assistant controller ready to step up) who has personally owned the close in a multi-entity, high-volume business. Consumer products, ecommerce, or marketplace experience strongly preferred.
• A builder: you have turned a messy or outgrown finance function into a system, and you can point to the before and after as your own work, not your team's.
• Hands-on, fast, and comfortable in the detail: journal entries, reconciliations, vendor files.
• Direct and concise. The founder wants three bullet points, not a deck.
• AI-fluent, or eager to be: using AI to compress close timelines and automate reconciliation work will be actively encouraged.
• Excellent English, any location. The company hires internationally as standard and holds one bar everywhere: great communication, great culture fit.

Compensation

$130,000 to $200,000 base, calibrated to experience.
