Financial Controller

Budget: Up to R35,000.000 depending on experience

Hours: UK hours, 8am - 5pm GMT

Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial management of a diverse portfolio of property-related businesses. This role supports multiple holding and subsidiary companies involved in property management and property development, requiring someone who is comfortable working across several entities and adapting to a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial reports, managing budgets and forecasts, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing meaningful financial information to support business decisions. This position is best suited to someone with excellent spreadsheet skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, even when instructions are broad or evolving.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the finances for multiple holding and subsidiary companies.
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports across all entities.
• Produce monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements.
• Develop, manage, and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
• Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful reporting to management.
• Maintain detailed financial spreadsheets and ensure data accuracy.
• Reconcile accounts and oversee general accounting functions.
• Assist with financial planning, cash flow management, and forecasting.
• Ensure financial records are well organised and professionally presented.
• Work efficiently under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
• Adapt quickly to evolving business needs and work effectively with limited direction.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.
• Experience managing the finances of multiple companies or group structures is highly advantageous.
• Experience within the property management or property development sector is preferred.
• Strong understanding of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet skills.
• Excellent computer literacy and confidence working with financial systems.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and presentation of financial information.
• Ability to prioritise effectively and meet strict deadlines.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working with changing priorities and minimal supervision.
