Financial Controller

Financial Controller (work from home, WFH) for a commercial hospitality business seeking a hands on and mobile candidate to support their Group Finance Director (GFD). This role will require travel to Cape Verde and Gibraltar. You will have a strong technical skillset as well as a natural ability for commercial focus, system review and implementation, comprehensive reporting, and staff management. The Financial Controller will be a strategic partner to the GFD, providing financial guidance and driving the business's financial planning and cash management.

Applicants considered will be qualified ACA or ACCA or similar with relevant post qualification experience ideally in the hotels or hospitality sector but this is not essential.

The successful applicant will be required to start promptly.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage a team of approximately 20 people based on location in Cape Verde to ensure efficient reporting of daily information
• Review and redesign current internal accounting systems to be more efficient
• Provide information on daily cash flow from the island to the HQ
• Manage the invoice processing system reporting to HQ Finance Team
• Ensure weekly and monthly financial information is provided timely and accurately to the HQ Finance Team
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts for review
• Be an active participant in strategic business meetings
• Travel to HQ office as and when required, maybe on a quarterly basis
• Ensure the management reporting team maintains the highest standard financial records and reporting standards locally
• Be a key financial contributor to new developments underway on the island

Key Requirements:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar qualification is essential
• 3 to 5 years' experience in a finance manager level role
• Have the right to travel to Cape Verde and Gibraltar
• Strong financial reporting skills
• Advanced Excel capabilities
• Demonstrative skills using accounting softwares like SAP, Oracle or Sage Line 200
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Highly adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills
• Proactive approach to financial team management
• Confidence to work closely with business owners, Directors and senior leadership teams
