★ PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR CV IN ENGLISH ★ Financial Controller (Contract) Location: Remote — Colombia Work Arrangement: Fully Remote Employment Type: Full-Time Contractor Industry: Real Estate & Construction Compensation: $2,000 – $4,000 USD/month English Proficiency: Advanced English (C1/C2) required Schedule: Full-Time | U.S. Business Hours Reports To: CFO Start Date: Immediate About the Role We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of accounting operations and financial reporting while helping transition the company's finance function from outsourced accounting to a fully in-house operation. Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll own the General Ledger (GL), month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting controls, while supervising bookkeeping, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable activities. This is a high-ownership role for a finance professional who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and delivering accurate financial information to executive leadership. The position begins with a three-month contractor trial period, with the potential for a long-term engagement based on performance and business needs. Why This Opportunity? What You'll Do Accounting Operations & Month-End Close Own and maintain the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and integrity. Maintain the Chart of Accounts and accounting structure. Lead monthly close activities, reconciliations, and financial accuracy. Support the transition from outsourced accounting to an internal accounting function. Establish scalable accounting processes and financial controls. Financial Reporting & Cash Management Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and management reports. Review of Profit & Loss statements and performance across business units. Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow. Provide timely financial information to the CFO and executive leadership. Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues proactively. Accounting Team & Compliance Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bookkeeping activities. Review invoices, payroll, expense reports, and vendor payments. Coordinate payroll tax, sales tax, and year-end tax reporting activities. Ensure accounting practices follow company policies and financial controls. Handle sensitive financial information with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion. Qualifications Required Qualifications 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar role. Proven experience with full ownership of the General Ledger (GL). Strong experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Hands-on experience with QuickBooks. Experience supervising accounting, AP/AR, or bookkeeping functions. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information. Advanced English proficiency (C1/C2) with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment during U.S. business hours. Preferred Qualifications Experience transitioning an accounting function in-house or improving accounting processes. Experience with project accounting software such as BigTime or similar platforms. Experience within professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or design firms. Experience in Luxury Architecture, Interior Design, or High-End Residential Design is highly desirable. CPA or equivalent accounting certification is a plus. How Success Is Measured Success in this role will be measured by your ability to: Maintain an accurate, reliable, and well-controlled General Ledger. Deliver financial statements and management reporting accurately and on schedule. Improve the efficiency and reliability of month-end close. Successfully support the transition to an internal accounting function. Establish standardized and scalable accounting processes.
