BlackLine is seeking an experienced Financial Systems Lead to join our Financial Systems team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Systems, this role will architect, develop, and support the core systems leveraged by our Accounting & Finance teams, with a primary focus on Order-to-Revenue (O2R) systems, including Zuora Revenue, Zuora Billing, and NetSuite. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with a proven track record of maintaining, optimizing, and enhancing complex financial systems. You should be proficient in designing and implementing robust system integrations, authoring detailed technical documentation, and performing deep technical troubleshooting. As we continue to explore AI-driven automation and intelligent workflows, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we leverage these capabilities to drive operational efficiency and future-proof our financial systems landscape.You'll Get To:
- Serve as the go-to technical resource for evaluating new Zuora Revenue capabilities and quarterly release features, partnering with Accounting and Finance to assess business impact, define adoption plans, and roll out new functionality.
- Architect and build scalable, automated solutions by analyzing our internal users' complex processes, workflows, and technical requirements.
- Design, develop, and manage system integration projects within the Order-to-Revenue ecosystem. This includes defining technical specifications, overseeing development and deployment, and ensuring ongoing system health and performance.
- Author and execute complex, custom queries (such as SQL, Data Query, or ZOQL) to build sophisticated reports and provide data for analysis and decision-making.
- Support data migration activities related to new acquisitions, international expansion, and new system implementations, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new system customizations and process changes, ensuring alignment with business needs and accurate execution.
- Develop and deliver end-user training on new systems, features, and policies, including creating technical documentation, instruction manuals, and conducting training sessions.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, logging, and resolving complex issues through the internal ticketing system (JIRA) to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
- Establish and govern technical standards, best practices, and design patterns for configurations and integrations within the Zuora Revenue ecosystem
- Perform regression testing and impact analysis ahead of Zuora Revenue vendor releases (quarterly updates, sandbox refreshes, and patches), validating existing configurations, integrations, and reports before promoting changes to production.
- Champion the adoption of AI and emerging technologies across the Financial Systems landscape, including designing and building custom MCP servers and AI-powered integrations that connect Zuora Revenue, NetSuite, and other financial systems to support new business use cases and automate manual processes.
- Uphold compliance by supporting monthly and quarterly ITGC processes and revenue close activities, including subledger-to-GL reconciliation, with thorough documentation and sign-offs.
- Manage and coordinate system implementations, enhancements, and integrations, collaborating with third-party partners to ensure successful project execution.

- A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with Zuora Revenue.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting or a related field.
- Proven experience working directly with Accounting and Finance teams, translating their needs into technical solutions with a strong understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606/IFRS 15), including performance obligation identification and standalone selling price (SSP) allocation
- Solid understanding of US GAAP revenue recognition guidance (ASC 606) and IFRS 15, and the ability to apply those standards, including contract identification, performance obligations, transaction price allocation, and revenue timing, when configuring and troubleshooting Zuora Revenue.
- Strong expertise in financial systems and tools including Zuora Revenue, Zuora Billing, NetSuite, iPaaS platforms, Salesforce, Confluence, and JIRA.
- Deep technical understanding of Zuora Revenue’s platform and architecture, including the Revenue Object Model (Revenue Contracts, Performance Obligations, and Revenue Schedules), POB assignment rules and templates, ZRules (Decision Tables and Decision Trees), and the Revenue Workbench, along with the ability to write custom, complex queries using Data Query.
- Strong understanding of upstream Order-to-Revenue systems (Zuora Billing, Salesforce CPQ/Orders, and NetSuite) and how upstream contract, order, and billing structures flow into and impact Zuora Revenue implementation, configuration, and recognition outcomes.
- Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of AI/LLM-enabled tools and agentic workflows, with the ability to build custom MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or similar integrations that extend AI capabilities into financial systems and business processes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing advanced SQL, SOQL, or other query languages (ZOQL) for reporting and data extraction.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable integrations between financial systems using APIs and iPaaS solutions.
- Experience creating enterprise-level technical documentation, including solution designs, data flow diagrams, and API specifications.
- Prior experience creating change management documentation to support ITGCs
- Hands-on configuration experience with Zuora Revenue Workbench, revenue contract and performance obligation management, allocation and re-allocation processing, contract modifications, and revenue schedule generation.
