Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Designer Job Description The Fire Sprinkler Designer designs fire protection sprinkler systems for a variety of building types, ensuring safety, code compliance, and high-quality engineering standards. This role completes engineering requests in line with sound business practices and corporate policies, reviews drawings for accuracy and completeness, and supports projects through design production and occasional site visits. Responsibilities Design fire protection sprinkler systems for a range of building types, including multifamily properties, data centers, and government facilities. Complete engineering requests in accordance with established business practices, industry standards, and corporate policies. Develop detailed fire sprinkler layout drawings and documentation using design software such as AutoCAD, Autosprink, Hydracad, and Revit where applicable. Review individual drawings to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with relevant codes and project specifications. Conduct site visits as needed to verify field conditions, gather design information, and coordinate with project stakeholders. Participate in BIM coordination efforts to ensure fire protection designs integrate smoothly with other disciplines and building systems. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to clarify design requirements, resolve conflicts, and support project delivery. Maintain organized project files, design records, and documentation to support efficient project management and quality control. Contribute to heavy design production work, meeting deadlines and supporting multiple projects as required. Apply knowledge of fire protection principles and building design to develop effective, reliable sprinkler system solutions. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience in fire sprinkler design. Strong background in fire protection design and sprinkler system layout. Proficiency in AutoCAD for fire sprinkler and fire protection design. Experience designing sprinkler systems for building types such as multifamily, data centers, and government facilities. Knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and best practices relevant to sprinkler system design. NICET Level III or higher in fire protection (required for fully remote work). Ability to review and verify the accuracy and completeness of technical drawings. Capability to conduct site visits and translate field conditions into effective design solutions. Experience with BIM coordination and working within coordinated design environments. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage heavy design production workloads. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Hydracad software is highly desirable. Experience with Revit for fire protection and sprinkler system design is a plus. background in broader building design, including multifamily, data centers, or government projects. Familiarity with Autosprink or similar fire protection design tools. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in an office and remote setting. Comfort working within flexible schedules and adapting to project needs. Interest in professional development and maintaining relevant certifications such as NICET. Work Environment This role is primarily based in an office setting within a laid-back, casual firm that emphasizes a comfortable and supportive atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashburn, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
