Fleet Engineer Team Leader - Airframe Systems
Luton | Full-time | Hybrid
20% bonus • 7% pension • Staff travel benefits
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday with occasional out of office calls.
We support hybrid working, and you’ll spend 60% of your time each month in the office.
You bring strong aircraft engineering expertise and the confidence to lead people, make sound technical decisions and keep continued airworthiness, reliability and delivery firmly on track.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a small group of experienced Fleet Engineers responsible for the continued airworthiness of easyJet’s fleet, with a focus on Airframe Systems.
You’ll balance team leadership with hands-on technical oversight, helping maximise safety, reliability and value while supporting aircraft availability, system performance and innovative airframe systems projects.
“This role needs someone who can bring strong airframe systems expertise together with thoughtful team leadership. You’ll help the team set the right priorities, solve complex technical issues and keep safety and continued airworthiness at the centre of every decision.”
Fleet Engineering Team at easyJet
The team & culture
You’ll lead a small, experienced Fleet Engineering team and work cross-functionally with colleagues across the business. The environment is technical, collaborative and delivery-focused, with close relationships across internal departments, aircraft and equipment manufacturers, and Airworthiness Regulators.
You’ll have the space to develop your team, improve how work gets done and use your expertise to support better aircraft availability and system reliability.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead day-to-day team performance, delegate work, manage priorities and workloads, and identify development and training needs. You’ll also manage leave and attendance and contribute to future business planning for the team and department.
You’ll provide technical support for AOG and OOS events, troubleshooting complex airframe systems issues and developing procedures or work instructions that resolve repeat or long-term reliability concerns.
You’ll oversee assessment of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and other technical documentation, monitor Engineering Orders and work instructions, and help ensure the fleet remains compliant with regulatory requirements. You’ll also support reliability analysis, occurrence and audit follow-up, modification programmes, budgets and relationships with OEMs and industry partners.
Requirements of the Role
What we’re looking for
You’ll have a recognised degree in an Aircraft Engineering discipline, an aircraft maintenance engineer’s licence, or equivalent relevant technical experience. Experience working with Airbus aircraft is a bonus , alongside experience leading and developing a team and supporting them with complex technical queries.
You’ll bring practical knowledge of EASA/UK Part M and Part CAMO, including competence in airworthiness regulations, systems, reliability control and Maintenance Programme development. You’ll also have experience managing collaborative development projects to fixed deadlines.
Clear communication matters, whether you’re troubleshooting with maintenance teams, presenting to stakeholders or representing easyJet at OEM and industry meetings. You’ll be comfortable with Microsoft Office, motivated by continuous improvement and adaptable to change. Experience of Airbus Single Aisle aircraft systems and AMOS or a similar MRO system is desirable.
What you’ll get
> Competitive base salary + up to 20% bonus
> 7% employer pension contribution
> Private medical insurance
> 25 days holiday + bank holidays
> Annual credit towards an easyJet holiday
> Excellent staff travel benefits
> Flexible benefits package including share schemes
