About ZOVU
ZOVU is building the operating system for modern restaurants: POS, reservations, loyalty, staff planning, and a customer app connected through one platform.
We are bootstrapped, our MVP is nearing completion, and our fully remote team is preparing the product for its first restaurant launches.
The opportunity
Help build the Flutter tablet application restaurant staff will depend on during service.
This three-month internship focuses on practical POS development: clear ordering flows, responsive interfaces, reliable local state, and communication with the backend and kitchen systems.
You will take ownership of meaningful functionality, with review appropriate to its complexity and risk.
What you will work on
- Develop order-entry, table-management, bill, and checkout interfaces.
- Manage application state using Riverpod.
- Integrate REST APIs and real-time events.
- Improve local persistence and synchronization behavior.
- Make pending, failed, and completed actions understandable to staff.
- Help integrate and test supported printers and other restaurant devices.
- Write tests for important state transitions and user journeys.
Our relevant stack
Flutter, Dart, Riverpod, go_router, dio, socket_io_client, and Hive. Shared services use TypeScript, Node.js/Express, PostgreSQL, and Prisma.
What we are looking for
- Practical Flutter/Dart experience beyond following a tutorial.
- Ability to explain a feature you personally implemented.
- Understanding of asynchronous operations, state management, and API failures.
- Familiarity with Git and systematic debugging.
- Willingness to test behavior under reconnects, retries, and interrupted workflows.
- Clear written communication and the ability to make progress independently.
Riverpod experience is preferred. Strong Flutter fundamentals with another state-management approach are also relevant. React or Node.js expertise is not required for this specialist role.
Useful additional experience
Offline queues, idempotent APIs, WebSockets, tablet layouts, receipt printing, native Kotlin/Swift integrations, or hospitality work.
How we work
This is a three-month, fully remote internship with a target commitment of 32 hours per week. Share your actual availability when applying.
Work is primarily asynchronous, with scoped ownership, written decisions, and code review. Continued opportunities depend on performance, business needs, and funding; there is no guaranteed permanent position.
