Founder Content & Community Operator

Sell in Public

Founder Content & Community Operator

Full-Time | Sell in Public

Monthly Salary: $1,500 - $2,500 USD depending on experience

Sell in Public helps technical B2B founders and executives turn their expertise and day-to-days into content that creates revenue for their company.

We're in a period of rapid growth, so we’re hiring our first full-time team member to own the day-to-day operation of the high-profile accounts we manage.

This is not primarily a writing role and it’s not a traditional social media manager position.

You'll join a small team that is still responsible for the core content strategy and writing. Your job is to make sure everything happening around that content actually gets done and helps convert to revenue for our partners.

You’ll essentially act as the operator behind a founder’s LinkedIn presence by learning the ins and outs of that individual's network and part of the business.

Here's a few things you can expect to do:

Run the day-to-day profile

You’ll manage the actionable things happening across founder profiles every day:

  • Respond to comments in the founder’s voice
  • Engage with relevant people in their community
  • Find conversations worth joining
  • Keep track of people who are important in their niche consistently interact with their content
  • Make sure good comments, conversations, and opportunities don’t get ignored
  • Handle the small daily actions that make a profile feel like it’s actually run by a person

The goal isn't to spam comments or hit an engagement quota. It’s to understand who matters, what conversations are worth having, and where a founder should be present.

Turn calls into content ideas

We spend a lot of time talking with clients, interviewing founders, and sitting in on calls where great ideas naturally come up.

After those calls, you’ll help turn the raw material into something useful.

That means:

  • Understanding enough about each founder and their business to recognize when something is actually interesting
  • Reviewing call recordings and transcripts
  • Pulling out strong opinions, stories, examples, frameworks, and observations
  • Identifying potential posts
  • Organizing ideas so I can quickly turn them into finished content
  • Flagging particularly strong moments or quotes

You won't need to write every post yourself. A big part of the role is making sure I never have to dig through a 45-minute recording to remember the one interesting thing someone said. In fact, most of this is already done by someone and using AI (which you are also encouraged to use), but we need someone that can connect the dots and really find those last 10% of incredible ideas.

Manage comments, DMs, and conversations

You’ll be the first layer of attention across the profiles we manage.

You’ll:

  • Respond to comments that can be handled normally
  • Surface comments where the founder should personally respond
  • Forward important conversations to the right person
  • Identify prospects, partners, customers, and interesting people reaching out
  • Make sure valuable conversations don't disappear into an inbox

You'll need good judgment here that comes from a thorough understanding of the individual founder's industry, niche, and network. All of which are a critical part of the job.

Help us understand the community

Through time, you should know the ecosystem around each founder extremely well.

  • Who are the customers?
  • Who are the prospects?
  • Who are the other interesting founders?
  • Who comments all the time?
  • Who would be valuable to build a relationship with?
  • What topics are suddenly getting discussed everywhere?
  • What questions keep coming up?

A great person in this role will constantly surface things like:

> "Three customers have mentioned this problem this week. This should probably be a post."

or:

> "This person has commented on four posts and just sent a DM. They're also a perfect-fit account."

or:

> "Everyone in this industry suddenly has an opinion about this. We should get Taylor's take before the topic gets beaten to death."

Trend jacking, social media lurking, doomscrolling individuals who understand LinkedIn are a must! Again, use of AI and building your own tools with what we give you is a massive advantage here.

What we're looking for

You probably won’t have done this exact job before.

What matters more is that you:

  • Have extremely good written and spoken English
  • Understand how people actually communicate online
  • Can learn someone's voice well enough to respond naturally as them
  • Have good judgment about what is and isn't important
  • Are naturally curious and good at spotting interesting ideas
  • Can consume a lot of information and pull out the 5% that matters
  • Are organized enough that things don't fall through the cracks
  • Don't need detailed instructions for every small task
  • Are comfortable making judgment calls and improving the system as you learn
  • Understand the difference between genuine community participation and fake "engagement"

You should be comfortable spending a significant amount of your day inside LinkedIn, Slack, call recordings, transcripts, and our internal systems.

Why work here

This is our first full-time hire, which means you won't be joining a large team to own one tiny piece of a process.

You'll work directly with the founder, have visibility into almost everything we're building, and have a lot of influence over how this part of the company operates.

You'll get unusually close exposure to how high profile B2B founders think, sell, market, build audiences, and run their companies. You'll see the conversations behind the posts rather than only the finished content.

You'll also have real ownership.

If you find a better way to organize our community workflow, we'll use it.

If you notice something clients are repeatedly asking for, we'll look at building it.

If there's an important conversation happening that nobody else noticed, you'll be expected to surface it.

The goal is not for you to remain "the person who responds to comments."

As Sell in Public grows, this role can grow into owning client operations, managing other content operators, running community and distribution systems, or taking responsibility for a meaningful part of the company.

You'll be joining early enough that the role will be shaped heavily by what you're exceptionally good at.

What you get

You're working with A players and we only hire A players. You'll be around an incredibly motivated team working for other incredibly motivated people. Because of this, we find it important to compensate you fairly and treat with you respect.

This is a job for someone looking for real ownership and takes pride in what they do. We want you to grow and be compensated for that.

For a full-time hire, our benefits package includes:

  • Competitive full-time salary
  • Paid time off
  • Paid sick leave
  • Paid company holidays
  • Flexible working hours with clear expectations around availability
  • Remote work
  • Budget for software and tools needed to do your job well
  • Direct learning opportunity from people to help you grow in your career
  • Regular compensation and role reviews as responsibilities grow
  • Clear opportunities to take on more ownership rather than being stuck in the same position indefinitely

We care much more about the quality and reliability of your work than whether you appear online every minute of the day.

You'll have a lot of autonomy, but autonomy here means owning outcomes, communicating clearly, and being dependable.

You're exactly who we're looking for if...

*You are chronically online, a LinkedIn doomscroller, and already post for yourself + participate in the community naturally.*

You have great taste in terms of what great content and engagement looks like and sift through the BS.

You read a conversation and immediately understand which part is interesting.

You can listen to a founder ramble for 30 minutes and pick out the two sentences that could become a great post.

You can tell when a DM is generic and when it's the beginning of an important relationship.

You understand internet culture well enough to communicate like a normal person rather than a corporate brand account.

And when you see something that should be done, your instinct is generally to handle it rather than create another task for someone else.

You'd probably hate this job if...

You haven't posted on LinkedIn in the last month

You think LinkedIn is dumb

You can't name 10 people you actively follow on LinkedIn

You need every task turned into a detailed SOP before you can act.

You think community management means leaving 50 generic comments per day.

You don't enjoy reading, writing, researching, or understanding how founders think.

You treat every notification as equally important.

Or you're looking for a role where you can disappear into a narrow set of repetitive tasks.

This role requires a lot of context, judgment, and ownership.

Where this can go

Initially, you'll work closely with me and take a large amount of day-to-day profile management off my plate.

As you get better, I want you to increasingly own the entire operating layer around our clients:

Founder talks → ideas get captured → content gets published → community gets engaged → conversations get surfaced → opportunities get handed to the right person.

You'll be our first full-time hire, so there is a lot of room for the role to expand as Sell in Public grows.
