Founding AI & Platform Engineer (m/f/d) - 100%

Help build the AI-native operating system for trusted medical expertise.

We are looking for a founder-minded engineer who wants to build much more than software.

As our Founding AI & Platform Engineer, you'll be the first engineering hire dedicated to building Winglet OS. Working closely with the founders and our Product & Tech Lead, you'll define the technology vision, architect the platform, shape our AI strategy, and build the engineering organization that will power Winglet's next decade of growth.

This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise with product thinking, customer empathy, and entrepreneurial ambition.

You don’t simply ask, "How should we build this?" You first ask, "What should we build - and why?"

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Define the Technology Foundation

• Define the long-term technology vision and architecture for Winglet OS.
• Select a modern, future-proof technology stack.
• Design a scalable, secure, AI-native platform architecture.
• Define frontend, backend, API, and infrastructure principles.
• Select and implement the appropriate CMS and supporting technologies.
• Establish engineering best practices from day one.

Shape the Product

• Work closely with the founders and Product & Tech Lead to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
• Help define the product roadmap and technical strategy.
• Build the MVP that becomes the foundation for Winglet OS.
• Balance technical excellence with pragmatic execution and business impact.

Build AI-Native Capabilities

• Rethink how AI can fundamentally improve how trusted medical expertise is created, validated, distributed, and continuously improved.
• Design capabilities such as Expert Creator Engine, intelligent learning recommendations, AI-assisted knowledge workflows, Digital Twin capabilities, and future AI-native experiences.

Lead the Platform Transformation

• Lead the migration from our existing platform to a modern architecture.
• Ensure today's platform continues to support customers while designing the foundation for what's next.
• Build a platform designed for continuous innovation.

Build for Scale

• International growth
• Multi-tenant SaaS architecture
• API-first integrations
• Community and collaboration features
• Open edX integration
• Analytics and future platform modules

Build the Engineering Organization

• Build and mentor the engineering team.
• Create a high-performing engineering culture.
• Select and manage external development partners during the transition.
• Establish scalable engineering processes and long-term technology strategy.
• Continuously evaluate new technologies based on scalability, maintainability, and business impact.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

We're less interested in whether you've used a specific framework. We're far more interested in how you think.

You likely have:

• Several years of experience building modern web products or platforms.
• Experience designing scalable software architectures.
• Strong full-stack engineering capabilities.
• Experience selecting and evaluating modern technologies.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Curiosity about frontier AI technologies.
• Excellent technical judgment and communication skills.
