Founding Senior Engineer

About the Role

Join the engineering team at a venture-backed AI commerce startup as a hands-on, player-coach engineer. You will build the systems behind an AI-powered growth platform for consumer brands while helping shape the team's technical direction and engineering culture.

What You'll Do

• Build data infrastructure that captures merchant lifecycle events and helps identify which actions drive outcomes.

• Develop agentic systems that assess growth operations, recommend changes, and execute improvements automatically.

• Own full-stack development of the growth engine, with a strong focus on backend systems and infrastructure.

• Build and maintain reliable integrations with commerce, advertising, and marketing platforms, including Shopify, Meta, TikTok, and Klaviyo.

• Help set architecture and engineering practices, mentor an engineer, and remain hands-on with daily product development.

What We're Looking For

• Five to eight years of full-stack engineering experience, with strong backend skills in data infrastructure, event systems, and API integrations.

• Experience building and owning production-grade agentic or LLM-powered systems that integrate with third-party APIs.

• A background at a high-growth technology company or well-funded startup, or strong computer science fundamentals.

• Experience leading or mentoring one or two engineers, including in a technical lead, founder, or player-coach capacity.

• Ability to prioritize across varied work and bring structure to ambiguous situations.

• Commerce or marketing technology integrations and early-stage, zero-to-one product experience are valuable.

• Strong communication skills and experience with Python, TypeScript, LLMs, and relevant commerce or advertising APIs.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $175,000 to $225,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available.
