Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Fractional CFO Advisor to provide strategic financial guidance and executive-level oversight across select client engagements.


This role is ideal for a senior finance professional who enjoys analyzing complex financial information, identifying risks and opportunities, and translating financial results into clear, practical recommendations.


The right person will bring deep financial expertise, independent judgment, and strong attention to detail. They must be comfortable challenging assumptions, investigating financial trends, and presenting recommendations to CEOs, management teams, and boards.


Key Responsibilities



Internal Responsibilities

  • Review Beyond the Books’ financial results and provide recommendations regarding profitability, cash management, cost control, and revenue priorities.
  • Develop executive financial reports, KPI dashboards, forecasts, and management summaries.
  • Review financial packages prepared by the accounting team for accuracy, completeness, and presentation readiness.
  • Coach team members on financial analysis, executive reporting, and communicating the business story behind the numbers.
  • Recommend standardized financial processes that the accounting team can maintain.


Client-Facing Advisory Responsibilities

  • Review monthly and quarterly financial statements, forecasts, and client deliverables.
  • Analyze revenue, gross margin, expenses, profitability, cash position, and overall financial health.
  • Identify material trends, risks, anomalies, and business opportunities.
  • Review budget-to-actual, month-over-month, and year-over-year performance.
  • Assess cash flow projections, liquidity requirements, and potential financing needs.
  • Explain financial variances and their impact on the business.
  • Provide recommendations related to revenue growth, expense management, cash preservation, financing, and business performance.
  • Help clients evaluate cost reductions, financing, capital raising, acquisitions, or preparation for sale.
  • Lead or support financial review meetings with business owners, executives, and boards.
  • Ensure financial presentations are accurate, concise, and focused on decisions and recommended actions.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience as a CFO, Fractional CFO, VP of Finance, Director of Finance, or comparable senior finance leader.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Experience presenting financial results and recommendations to CEOs, executive teams, investors, or boards.
  • Strong background in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, liquidity analysis, and financial statement analysis.
  • Experience developing management reports, KPI dashboards, cash flow projections, and executive presentations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes, financial reporting, and U.S. GAAP.
  • Ability to identify the business story behind financial results and recommend practical next steps.
  • Excellent analytical, executive communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with privately held, small, or mid-sized companies preferred.
  • Prior fractional, consulting, or professional services experience preferred.
  • Availability for scheduled meetings during agreed Pacific Time business hours.



Work Arrangement

  • Remote, part-time, and as-needed engagement.

  • Compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and assigned scope.
