Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity

The position is responsible for investigating suspected fraud and financial crimes impacting the Auto Finance business, identifying control weaknesses, recommending risk mitigation strategies, and preparing investigative reports for management and regulatory purposes. The role partners closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, law enforcement, and Enterprise Fraud Security & Investigations (EFSI) to identify, investigate, and mitigate fraud risks while supporting the organization's risk appetite and compliance objectives.

The Work Itself

  • Conduct fraud and financial crime investigations involving consumer auto finance accounts.
  • Develop investigative plans, gather evidence, analyze data, and document findings.
  • Research fraud trends, schemes, and emerging risks using internal systems and external sources.
  • Evaluate fraud controls and recommend enhancements to strengthen the control environment.
  • Execute fraud mitigation and loss prevention strategies.
  • Prepare clear investigative reports for senior leadership, regulatory reporting, and FinCEN requirements.
  • Support recovery efforts including repossessions, restitution, insurance claims, and assumptions.
  • Partner with EFSI on high-risk or complex investigations.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise fraud policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support portfolio risk management activities and risk appetite monitoring.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, vendors, and law enforcement.

The Qualifications We’re Looking For


  • Associate/Bachelor’s/MBA degree in Business, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in fraud investigations/Consumer Fraud Industry experience (auto, bank. card, mortgage, etc.).
  • Certification in area of specialization-CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner Certification) or equivalent-strongly preferred.
  • Fraud investigations and risk assessment.
  • Report writing and documentation.
  • Regulatory compliance awareness.
  • Relationship management and collaboration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking skills• Organizational and project management skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent

Base Pay Range

$55,000.00 - $95,000.00

An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Incentive Compensation:

This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
