Based in the New York City area, this Freelance Character performer position is a CT role supporting the Disney Character Events department as part of Disney Live Entertainment.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned character roles while maintaining established character integrity, physicality, mannerisms, and storytelling standards.
- Interact with Guests in a professional, engaging, and immersive manner consistent with Disney entertainment guidelines.
- Demonstrate strong improvisation skills while adapting to varying Guest interactions and operational environments.
- Maintain performance quality and consistency throughout multiple performances each day.
- Work effectively with fellow performers, technicians, costumers, and entertainment partners.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, operational procedures, and performance standards.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding entertainment offerings, creative concepts, and production information.
- Support the Disney commitment to inclusion, teamwork, professionalism, and exceptional Guest service.
Basic Qualifications
- Previous performance experience in portraying Disney characters at Disney parks, cruise ships, or equivalent locations
- Ability to effectively portray a designated character through movement, physical acting, and non-verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal and Guest interaction skills.
- Ability to remain in character throughout performances and Guest interactions.
- Ability to learn and retain choreography, blocking, performance notes, and character-specific requirements.
- Willingness to work in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a highly team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and professionalism.
